Trivia

David Brunt, who played the Hobo in the original Grindhouse (2007) trailer, appears as a shotgun-wielding dirty cop in the scene where the cops go out to hunt down the hobos. He screams, "We're all dirty cops!" He was offered the chance to reprise his role as the Hobo for the film but was hesitant about it, believing he would not be able to carry an entire movie on his own. Rutger Hauer was then cast when Brunt turned down the role.
While shot on a Red Epic camera, the film was digitally post-processed in order to make it look like it was shot on color reversal stock cross-processed in negative chemicals, which results in highly saturated, shifted colors.
Rutger Hauer lost his balance and fell when climbing out of the Shopping Cart. Director Jason Eisener decided to keep it in the movie.
The shotgun is a Remington 870.
The song that plays over the end credits is "Run With Us" by Lisa Lougheed. It was originally written as the theme song for the animated series The Raccoons (1985), which, like this film, was produced in Canada.
Based on a fake trailer made for Grindhouse (2007).
Professional wrestler Jake 'The Snake' Roberts was the first person considered for the role of Drake.

The featured Hope Town Gazette articles have different titles and bylines, each naming a different production/crew member; however, each "article" has the same text content, originally written by Todd Brown of Twitch.com, who was one of the first to announce the upcoming film. That text begins with, "Yes, kids, I've been sitting on this for a while now, but with the director and star both talking about it publicly in recent days, I suppose the muzzle is off."

Although this was filmed in an English-speaking province, Canada is a bilingual country with mostly English-speaking citizens--there are a few French communities and two French-speaking provinces. In the school bus scene, you can see "sortie de secours" on the rear window of the bus, which is French for "emergency exit".

The trivia item below may give away important plot points.

For the scene in which Logan is decapitated, one of the bystanders was a former blind man, who had recently had corrective surgery. One of the first images he saw as a newly sighted man was that of the decapitation and the subsequent sexy dance in the shower of blood.
