Paul is seen cooking, as the episode begins. In trying to smell a condiment, he gets a sneezing bout that does not stop even when his next patient, Jesse, arrives for his session. The teenager is much subdued mood, something that is in sharp contrast to the last time he saw Dr. Weston.

Jesse reveals he received a letter from his biological father, whose name is Kevin. The purpose of writing now is to show he was conceived. Both he and Karen were very young when she became pregnant. It was a sad situation for both, with no prospects for assuming the responsibility of a new baby. Kevin declares he loves Jesse, but the youth thinks it is not true.

Paul is impressed by the results of Jesse's grade in algebra; he got a B, something that surprised him. He was helped by Roberto, his adopted father. Dr. Weston is interested in finding whether Jesse told Roberto about the incident with Nate, something Jesse had no intention of doing. Jesse also talks about writing Kevin asking him to stay out of his life. He does not think it is fair to Marisa and Roberto to have any contact with these strangers.

It is an emotional time for Jesse, as well as for his adoptive parents. He reads to Paul the letter he wrote to Kevin. At the same time, he compares the handwriting in the letter he received to his own. There are similarities. At the same time, Jesse feels bad in finding Marisa kneeling in the closet while praying. There are many details Jesse would like to know about the biological parents, what kind of house they live in, and other details. Jesse confesses he feels everything is going to be fine.

This chapter of the series was directed by Jim McKay, and written by Sarah Treem, a frequent contributor of the program. Gabriel Byrne and Dane Dehaan's contribution to the success of the program keeps the viewer coming back for more.
