Germain’s 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2012

27 December 2011 12:00 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

If 2012 is the end of the world, that's all right with me. Hollywood has overstocked the Mayan calendar's final year with so many potentially amazing movies that trying to cut it down to a top ten was virtually impossible. How could movies like The Amazing Spider-Man, Brave or Lincoln not be on this list? Ten then became twenty, which was more satisfying but there were still a few major films lingering. So, while I could have easily done 30, here are my ten most anticipated films with a bloated honorable mention list. Is your most anticipated on the list? Here are my honorable mention anticipated films of 2012, from least to most anticipated: John Carter, This is 40, World War Z, Gangster Squad, Wreck-It Ralph, Lincoln, The Amazing Spider-Man, Brave, American Reunion, Looper And now the top 10, complete with photos and brief descriptions. 10. Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg may reunite to star in Michael Bay’s next film. Variety reports that The Other Guys stars are in talks to star in the darkly comedic bodybuilding movie Pain and Gain. Word is that Johnson is close to a deal than Wahlberg, but the casting process is still in the early stages. Wahlberg’s involvement will depend on his ability to find room in his schedule.

The film has been compared to the Coen Brothers Fargo and is based on “a Miami New Times article from 1999, "Pain and Gain" will follow a pair of Florida bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong.” The script was penned by Captain America scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

This long-gestating passion project for Bay has a modest $20 million price tag, and is set up at Paramount. It will »

It'll reportedly "only" cost $20 million and Bay is now close to locking down his two leads. Variety reports talks are well underway between Bay and both Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Mark Wahlberg however, with Wahlberg kind of busy, Johnson is closer to locking a deal down. The 9 Greatest Penis Moments in Movies

2 December 2011 2:00 PM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Let's all be adults; this is not a puerile discussion of the male member. We're merely noting that throughout history, while paintings and sculptures have depicted the nude male body with regularity, film has a limited number of offerings (not counting the XXX variety, of course), whereas leading ladies (even Oscar-winning ones) drop cover again and again.

Michael Fassbender, however, has no qualms about showing what God gave him. In Steve McQueen's new drama "Shame," Fassbender plays a sex addict who's in the buff so often his body is naked nearly as often as its clothed. In honor of Fassbender's courage to reveal everything, we're celebrating the movies -- and actors -- who've dared to go full frontal.

Mark Wahlberg, Bff Director Now In Major Fight

18 October 2011 8:21 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

The pair that brought "The Fighter" to the big screen is now embroiled in its own dramatic scrap.

After waiting years to bring the story of underdog Boston boxer Mickey Ward to theaters, Mark Wahlberg, stung by Darren Aronofsky's departure, asked David O. Russell to helm the picture. The film would go on to garner a boatload of Oscar nominations, and prompted the two friends to develop more projects together. One of them, "The Silver Linings Playbook," in which Wahlberg was set to star, recently underwent a sudden casting switch -- leading to a major falling out between the two.

The Wrap reports that Russell decided to recast the film's leading role, swapping Wahlberg for Bradley Cooper. At first it seemed as if it was an issue of timing -- Wahlberg is very busy at the moment, as he is slated to film at least three new movies in »

Her body is painted to look like a lizard’s, which isn’t a huge departure for her. Vandervoort, 27, played a lizard in the ABC series “V” but she is probably better known for her role as Supergirl in the television series “Smallville.” Laura is a staple on Maxim’s Hot 100 list, and will be appearing in “This Means War” with Reese Witherspoon. She’s also currently filming Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted,” with Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Family Guy Movie On The Way

14 October 2011 7:55 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

Family Guy has grown from a show that was cancelled twice into a multi-billion dollar cartoon empire, creator Seth MacFarlane launching two more tv shows (American Dad, The Cleveland Show) since and signing a 100million dollar deal with Fox last year. Next year, MacFarlane’s first live-action movie, Ted, about a teddy bear come to life (starring Mark Wahlberg) hits cinemas, and he’s also working on a reboot of The Flintstones which may head to cinemas as well as tv. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter however, comes the news that a Family Guy movie is also on the way. Whilst this is no surprise, it’s still welcome news, especially as MacFarlane suggests that he’d rather finish the show and do high-quality movies with the characters than keep the show going too long. I’ve loved Family Guy since the very first episode – I even have early seasons on VHS! »

Seth MacFarlane Wants to Reboot ‘Star Trek’ TV Series, Talks ‘Flintstones’ and ‘Family Guy’

14 October 2011 7:00 AM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

[1] Love him or hate him, there's no denying things are looking up for Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. His series continues to be a hit in its tenth season, his feature film Ted is set to hit next year, he's updating the '80s PBS series Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, and earlier this year, he finally won the rights to reboot [2] The Flintstones for film and television. Now he's kinda-sorta got his eye on bringing back another classic property: Star Trek. After the jump, read about MacFarlane's interest in the iconic sci-fi series, plus his thoughts on modernizing The Flintstones and (eventually) ending Family Guy. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter [3], MacFarlane revealed his desire to take over one of his favorite franchises: MacFarlane is particularly eager to reboot one of his favorite franchises, Star Trek, for TV. 'Family Guy' Movie Coming, Creator Says

13 October 2011 12:03 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

He's already larger than life, and now Peter Griffin is headed to the big screen.

Seth MacFarlane, creator of the hit series "Family Guy" and the empire it spawned, tells The Hollywood Reporter that there is a deal in place to create a film featuring Griffin family and the rest of the zany world of Quahog. In fact, he envisions a new film every few years, instead of continuing on with the television series.

"Part of me thinks that 'Family Guy' should have already ended. I think seven seasons is about the right lifespan for a TV series," he said -- the show is now on its seventh season, after having been canceled in 2001 and brought back in 2004. "I talk to the fans and in a way I'm kind of secretly hoping for them to say we're done with it. There are plenty of people who say the »

Q&A: Spider-Man's Latest Mary Jane, Laura Vandervoort, Talks!

6 October 2011 3:35 PM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Kirsten Dunst left rather large shoes to fill when it came to the iconic role of Mary Jane Watson in "Spider-Man." So big, in fact, that the newest movie, "The Amazing Spider-Man," opted to go the Gwen Stacy story route.

Not so for Activision's new video game featuring the great webbed one. "Smallville" and "Into the Blue 2" actress Laura Vandervoort took on the voiceover gig as M.J. for the game, which also features the voices of Val Kilmer and Katee Sackoff, and approached it rather differently than Dunst, she told NextMovie during San Diego Comic-Con.

But talking for iconic characters isn't all this sci-fi mainstay has been up to. You'll see quite a bit of the blonde beauty in 2012 – she stars opposite Tom Hardy and Chris Pine in "This Means War" and Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg in Seth MacFarlane's "Ted."

DVD Playhouse—October 2011

By Allen Gardner

Terri (20th Century Fox) An awkward, obese teen (Jacob Wysocki) finds himself forming an odd friendship with his equally left-of-center vice-principal (John C. Reilly), who decides to help the boy navigate his way through adolescence’s rocky road. Low key film is filled with pathos and humor, but is ultimately too laid back for its own good (not to mention too long). Worth seeing for young Wysocki’s amazing, completely natural performance, and Reilly’s goofy charm. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Featurette; Deleted scenes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 5.1 surround.

Mr. Nice (Mpi) Rhys Ifans stars in the true story of Howard Marks, a Welsh-born Oxford grad who gained the most notoriety in his life for being the UK’s biggest hashish smuggler during the ‘70s and ‘80s, when he wasn’t busy spying for Her Majesty’s government, hanging out with a »
