Lisa Loves and her line of XXX videos for daring! label (out of England and Holland, the company having moved from its Spanish hdqts. several years back) are interesting variations on the no story gonzo movement of the 21st Century - as far removed from "Max Hardcore" (who started the downward slide) as possible. GEISHA is her best in my opinion.
To make an important distinction, Lisa works in the footsteps of British porn director Kendo, and has the same production team, including Kendo on her crew. While I detest the Kendo self-important videos, I think Lisa has solved the content problem with her atmospheric and arousing "couples" approach that relies heavily on slow-motion.
Before watching GEISHA I thought it might be controversial, given the use of European rather than Japanese actresses as well as the literal "white-face" makeup. However, the finished product is immediately disarming, as the beauties, including famous stars like Aletta Ocean (unrecognizable beneath the makeup) look perfect in costume and the white-face is extremely erotic.
Another surprising plus here is casting Thai actor Keni Styles in a leading role, as Ocean handles his big dark dick (in closeup the effect reminded me of Herschel Savage, stalwart porno white boy bearing a "black dick" look) in a strong opening vignette. Touted as the first Asian male porn star in the West, that honor actually goes to San Francisco regular Ken Starbuck of the '80s, though Ken never got much recognition during his career and I don't recall him ever cast in a starring role. Recall however that it is the women who are the stars in porn, not the men (e.g., people bought tickets to see Annette Haven, not her co-star John Leslie).
Excellent, dreamy music is vital to the feature's success, and there is plenty of variety along the way, notably in lesbian sequences. Besides Ocean, the actress India is both beautiful and enigmatic in the final segment in which Lisa makes great teasing use of her large breasts underneath the kimono.
Most of Lisa's titles are not listed at all in IMDb, but I am trying to see as much of her work as possible - from what I've seen she maintains a high standard of quality and casts her net for performers beyond just the big names, looking for interesting talent.
