‘The Bachelorette’ and Lionel Richie Re-Enacted, ‘Veep’s’ Best Insults — This Week’s Best Late Night TV

10 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

With so many shows running every weeknight, it makes sense that you can’t keep up on everything. So here’s a recap of the week’s highlights, thanks to the magic of YouTube.

“Sing After You Cry”

Ben Platt, the star of the Broadway favorite “Dear Evan Hanson,” appeared on “Late Show” this week, and offered some amazing advice on why singing on stage can actually be helped by tears. That’s in the interview below:

And for a taste of what that means, just watch Platt singing a signature number from the show live:

Not bad, sir. Not bad.

Not That We’ll Admit to Watching “The Bachelorette,” But…

A truly horrific dude made his primetime debut during the season premiere, and the best way to process it is to watch two true gentlemen of The Roots reenact a key interaction on “The Tonight Show. ”

Watch Conan O’Brien Train Like ‘Wonder Woman’ with Gal Gadot and Hilariously Fail

13 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

I’m fully convinced that this is a TBS thing but for some reason I always forget about Conan O’Brien.  And I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way at all.  In fact he’s definitely one of the strongest late night show hosts out there.  I just for some reason neglect to include his clips on this site as often as I should.  I promise to make an effort to not do this anymore.   With regards to this latest clip I simply knew that I’d be sharing it. As the world gathers itself for the release of Wonder Woman, it’s a

Conan O'Brien Reveals What He Would Do If He Ever Ran Into Jay Leno

24 May 2017 9:40 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

It's been over seven years since Conan O'Brien left The Tonight Show and Jay Leno came back to host the NBC program, but the wounds still seem a little fresh.

On Tuesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, which is currently filming on location in Los Angeles, O'Brien agreed to play the show's "Plead the Fifth" game and was asked in a roundabout way about his feelings toward Leno years after the Tonight Show shake-up. "You are seated next to Jay Leno on a flight, what do you say to him? What is the conversation?" Cohen asked.

"Oh, for God's sake," O'Brien exclaimed before jokingly answering that he wouldn't speak to him at all.

‘Archer’ Says Goodbye to ‘Dreamland’ and 4 More Things to Watch on Wednesday, May 24

24 May 2017 3:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Welcome to PeekTV, your daily look at the best that television has to offer. In each installment, we make three picks for the best shows to watch and…toss in a little extra.

Wednesday, May 24 What Happened Last Night?!

Why is this box puzzling this man? (Check out last night’s TV picks to find out.)

“Archer: Dreamland”

“Auflösung,” Fxx – 10:00 p.m.

Synopsis: In the season finale, Archer visits Dreamland and receives a big break that leads him to Woodhouse’s killer.

Why You Should Watch: The season-long descent into film noir has worked wonders for one of cable’s longest-running animated series. If nothing else, it’s been interesting to see how this wacky assemblage of erstwhile agents have adjusted to their new ’40s environs. As with all good things, Archer probably isn’t long for this particular world, but it’ll be interesting to see if this »

Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Tops Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ in 2016-2017 Season Ratings

23 May 2017 12:55 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” has officially overtaken Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” in the ratings for the 2016-2017 season.

With three nights left in the traditional September to May season, Colbert’s CBS late-night show is averaging 3.195 million viewers per episode, compared to Fallon’s 3.173 on NBC, according to Nielsen data through May 19. Colbert’s victory marks CBS’ first late night win since the 1994-1995 season, excluding 2009-2010 when NBC replaced Conan O’Brien with Jay Leno midway through the season. “The Late Show” was also the only late-night program to post year-to-year growth in total viewers, up 11% from 2.89m.

There are some caveats worth mentioning, however. Fallon is still the late-night king of adults 18-49. To date, Fallon is averaging a 0.81 rating in the key demo, compared to Colbert’s 0.58, meaning Fallon enjoys a 33% advantage over his nearest competition in that measure, which is the measure most important to advertisers. In case the arsenal of leather jackets, all-black-everything wardrobe, a body covered with an impressive collection of ink, and his general insouciant swagger didn’t immediately give it away, Justin Theroux is a bit of a bad boy, or at least he plays the part very convincingly. And as it turns out, he doesn’t just love getting tattoos, he loves giving them as well. James Corden to Star in ‘Late Late Show’ Offshoot for Snapchat Shows (Exclusive)

James Corden is coming to Snapchat Shows.

The messaging app’s growing roster of TV-style short-form series will be joined by “James Corden’s Next James Corden,” a six-episode satire of reality-competition shows launching this fall featuring the late-night host himself.

“The line between your television screen, your computer and your phone has never been more blurred,” Corden told Variety.

The series pretends that Corden is searching for a successor at “Late Late Show with James Corden,” so he decides to put a group of young potential replacements to the test.

The Corden project will mark the first collaboration between CBS and Snapchat for Discover, the content platform where Snapchat Shows can be found. NBCUniversal, Disney, Vice and MGM are among the other media partners Snapchat has brought in for original programming on Discover.

Corden’s Snapchat Show will also feature other familiar faces including bandleader Reggie Watts. Ben Winston and Rob Crabbe will serve as executive »

Snapchat Shows: Inside the Plan to Reimagine TV for the Mobile Era

23 May 2017 6:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

When Elisabeth Murdoch said goodbye to the family business in the wake of the News Corp. phone-hacking scandal in 2014, there was considerable anticipation regarding her next career move. The safe bet was that she’d find something to do in the television industry, where she had cranked out global hit series formats from “MasterChef” to “Big Brother” for Shine Group, which she’d sold to her father for $675 million.

But when Murdoch resurfaced in 2015, she focused her programming savvy not on TV but on a single digital platform: Snapchat.

Her new venture, Vertical Networks, has produced only for the Venice, Calif.-based messaging app, and includes a trio of so-called Snapchat Shows, a short-form video format exclusive to the Snapchat platform. As Murdoch sees it, the seismic shift a new generation of younger viewers is making from TV to mobile can no longer be ignored.

Justin Theroux has more tattoos than people may realize. The Leftovers actor appeared on TBS' Conan Monday, where Conan O'Brien mentioned that he agreed with Theroux's belief that grown men should not wear shorts in public, unless they're at the beach or the pool. Theroux is in great shape, although he has "little squiggly" legs. "They're covered in tattoos. That's why I do all my experimental tattoos down on my legs—literally.
