Storyline

Resuscitated by Elena, who even hands him the dagger as proof of alliance, Elijah explain to her how his Bulgarian family became the first, still most powerful vampires, but witches prevented them becoming invulnerable. He loved Nicolaus 'Klaus', being his brother, but has to turn against him in the end. They ingeniously staged the moon curse in order to get vampires and werewolves to help look for a cure for Klaus's real curse, doubly monstrous genes. Alari-Klaus toys further with Katherina and instruct Maddocks to fetch a new body so he can leave Rick's. Stefano bickers with Damon over how to protect Elena, who shocked both of them but also prevents a fraternal fallout. Written by KGF Vissers

Why so grumpy?...
23 April 2011 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

I didn't think it was possible for Elijah to have worse hair than he currently does, but that flashback to England 1492 proved otherwise. This really is the Show of Bad Hair. As far as the guys are concerned anyway. The girls always have good hair.

Good to see Andie again - I like her, though I don't like that Damon's still using her terribly, with him pouting over her not wanting him to bite her again. Damon's use of 'distractions' as he puts it is getting old. Shame that Stefan can only point out to Damon that Andie's not some wind-up toy, but he can't actually *do* anything to put a stop to Damon's abuse of her.

Heh, I loved Klaus's comment - in reference to Alaric - about getting "out of this bad hairdo". Tell it like it is, Klaus!

Elena was certainly calm and cool about being in the same room - and then the same car - as Elijah. She totally had his number (about him needing her to help kill Klaus), so that probably explains it. But still...she didn't even look nervous around him. Elena's got guts. Takes somebody with a spine to do the things she does. And I liked the part where she said - for Elijah's benefit as well as Stefan's - the stuff about Elijah being "a noble man", his "code of honour" and how she'd proved herself to him by removing the dagger. I also liked that she asked Stefan to respect her decision (and thankfully, in this instance, he tried to do so, by telling Damon they needed to trust her). Damon and Stefan's "Did she just hang up on you?"/"She did."/"She's lost it." exchange amused me.

The flashbacks looked very nice, and they certainly made sure to draw out the reveal of Klaus when he turned up for the first time.

Ah, so THAT'S where Jenna has been - in her kitchen.

So Klaus and Elijah are brothers? Interesting. Elijah actually got a good line with his "I believe the term you're searching for is 'OMG'." (in reference to Elena reacting to the news).

I liked watching bored Katherine spinning on the chair, deciding to go for the Bourbon and then having to play mime with the door knob - and her frustration at that.

The scene with Alaric-Klaus, Jenna and Stefan was interesting. Matt Davis did a good job as Klaus, coming across as threatening without actually uttering any straight-out threats at Jenna. Poor Jenna, she must feel like she's on a bad acid trip in hell. I liked the tension between Alaric-Klaus and Stefan as well as seeing Jenna's reactions to all this new info.

Good of Elena to bring up the question of why would Klaus want to break the sun & moon curse if he/Originals can already walk in sunlight. There's been all this talk whole season about the sun and the moon curse, and now it turns out it's a fake? It's just a false creation of Klaus and Elijah's warped minds? It was clever of them, though, coming up with this fake story to get everybody else to do the dirty work for them and locate the moonstone and whatnot that Klaus needed.

While I was glad to see Jenna not putting up with Alaric-Klaus and telling him to get out, I got worried for her when he threatened her with the knife. I did enjoy Stefan's saving her/vamping out/yelling at her to go and her reaction to that. It was a good way to have Stefan finally reveal his true self to her.

I found Elijah's annoyance at Elena's phone and its "incessant buzzing" that would not stop to be amusing.

Sara Canning was excellent in the scene between Jenna and Elena, where Elena got to see just how hurt Jenna was about the fact that she was literally the last person to be told about all this. It's a relief that she's no longer in the dark. It will be interesting to see her try to deal with all this new info she's learnt, and how she'll act towards everybody now that she knows the truth about what they are/what's been going on.

Katherine drinking/dancing (especially the bit with the lamp) cracked me up, as did her reaction to hearing Alaric-Klaus returning, and then it cutting to her sitting like a good little obedient vamp on the couch.

Two brothers, immortals born of human families (one a vampire, the other a werewolf ), a feud, Klaus suddenly being BOTH vampire and werewolf? Hello, bastardized version of Underworld. Kate Beckinsale will not be happy when she shows up to kill everybody for using the plot from her movies. I don't mind it, though.

That fight between Stefan and Damon has been a long time coming. Granted, it wasn't that much of a fight, but the rivalry has been brewing for a while and I'm sure we'll get a full-on fight between them sooner or later.

Damon's reaction, when Elijah asked for an apology from him and Stefan, was funny.

Andie in her underwear? Thankyou for that, show. Dawn Olivieri is a very beautiful woman, and it's nice to see someone other than Damon with their shirt off for a change.

The abusive boyfriend feeling Damon was giving off with the way he treated Andie there at the end was quite uncomfortable to watch. I'm just relieved he compelled her to go before he killed her. Andie was nice, I didn't want her to be another casualty of Damon being "upset". I also hope Alaric's still alive. "That's more like it." indeed - quite the entrance, Klaus. The show is really ramping things up now as it approaches the end. Excellent episode.
