Great Movie Mistakes
10 April 2010 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I have read about some mistakes made in some of my favourite films, I have seen one or two programmes that spot them, and I have spotted some myself, and I was really looking forward to seeing this one. Presented and narrated by Peep Show's Robert Webb, this programme, compiled with the help of film nerds, reveals many mistakes made in the biggest and most popular films of all time in 2010 and past. These mistakes include costume problems, continuity errors, disappearing and reappearing props, repeated moments, spelling mistakes, changing words and numbers, unreliable extras, obvious doubles, props being unrealistic and changing colour, hair and make-up problems, actors mouthing others' lines, empty hands (meant to have props), unnecessary sound effects, actors missing cues, timing issues, visible crew members, visible safety equipment, wobbling sets, changing repeated dialogue, and much more besides.

Films in the programme, brace yourselves and pray your favourite isn't listed (loads of mine are), include: Stars Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Mamma Mia!, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Troy, Transporter 3, Independence Day, War of the Worlds, Minority Report, The Incredible Hulk, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Jurassic Park, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, High School Musical, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Fight Club, Changeling, The Devil Wears Prada, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, School of Rock, Braveheart, Titanic, North by Northwest, Gangs of New York, The Departed, Saving Private Ryan, The Holiday, Almost Famous, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2 (X-Men 2), X-Men, The Mummy, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Godfather, Carrie, Jaws, Rocky, Borat, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Shallow Hal, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Mummy Returns, Starsky & Hutch, The Fugitive, Bruce Almighty, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Matrix Reloaded, I Am Legend, Spider-Man, Ghost Town, No Country for Old Men, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, A Beautiful Mind, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Die Hard, Die Hard 2: Die Harder, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Die Hard 4.0, Charlie's Angels, Gran Torino, The Queen, Munich, 300, The Fast and the Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Top Gun, Commando, Lethal Weapon, Ghost, Back to the Future, Stand by Me, Brokeback Mountain, Shrek 2, Ratatouille; Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, Casino Royale, Dr. No, Thunderball, Diamonds Are Forever, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Man with the Golden Gun, 50 First Dates, Nacho Libre, Bad Boys II, Point Break, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, Jumper, Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Brüno, King Kong (2005), Valkyrie, Mission: Impossible II, Click, John Tucker Must Die, The Dark Knight, Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Napoleon Dynamite, Vanilla Sky, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Walk the Line, Shaun of the Dead, Sexy Beast, Notting Hill, Wimbledon, King Kong (1933), Casablanca, Some Like It Hot, Gone with the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gladiator, The Simpsons Movie, Superbad, Pulp Fiction, Snatch, Casino, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Reservoir Dogs, Slumdog Millionaire, Zoolander, Stardust, Austin Powers in Goldmember, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, American Gangster, Wanted, Twilight, P.S. It had a good presenter, it was funny, it was informative (as I only knew two or three of the mistakes myself), and it reminds you that even the greatest actors, directors and other crew can make mistakes when creating their art. If you are someone that loves their films, like I do, very much, then this is definitely for you. Very good!
