"Smallville" Prophecy (TV Episode 2011) Poster

(TV Series)

Lois Lane: Wow. So, how does one ask for permission to marry on Krypton?

Clark Kent: The last time that Kara was in town, she told me, in Kryptonian culture, the head of the house has to approve all life unions.

Lois Lane: "Life unions"? Will you stop being so romantic?

Jor-El: [voice] Kal-El, my son, you have returned.

Clark Kent: Jor-El, I come here today as a Kryptonian, as a member of your house, and your son. In honor of our home, I'm here to declare my desire to start a life bond with this woman... Lois Lane.

Jor-El: Lois Lane, do you truly intend to initiate a life union with my son?

Lois Lane: I do.

Jor-El: [voice] Your pledge is observed. If your lives are to be joined, then you must both understand.

Clark Kent: Lois, are you okay?

Lois Lane: I'm more than okay. I'm super.

Oliver Queen: I'm starting to regret not packing my intergalactic dictionary about now. No way these are Celtic.

Kara: No. They're Apokolyptian.

[sees Kara trapped in a ray beam]

Oliver Queen: You're Clark's cousin, Kara, right?

Kara: Yeah.

Oliver Queen: How long have you been down here? I got to get you out.

Kara: No, wait. It'll kill you.

[she throws a rock at the ray beam, the rock disintegrates]

Oliver Queen: Right. Okay. There's got to be some way to turn off this death ray from hell.

Clark Kent: Lois, I don't think Jor-El did what he did for you to get ahead at the office.

Lois Lane: Clark, we were able to cover our deadline for the wedding day, the day after the wedding day and the day after the day after the wedding day. Look, I know it's hard go all four-alarm fire on this thing, but Jor-El's intentions might have been good.

Clark Kent: You can't honestly believe that. By taking away my powers, he's made me vulnerable, and you...

Lois Lane: Like 800% more awesome then yesterday?

[Lois types super fast on her computer, the keyboard snaps in half]

Lois Lane: Okay, maybe 700% more. Maybe Jor-El wanted me to know what it felt like to be you.

Clark Kent: I'm not so sure, Lois. In his own warped way, I think he's trying to tell us something about our relationship.

Lois Lane: We're as bulletproof as your - *my* skin.

Lois Lane: Maybe Jor-El wanted to teach us a little something about patience.

Clark Kent: Well, if he did, you're about to fail. I'm driving.

Lois Lane: Also, I have a whole new appreciation for your jacket-and-boots thing. The number of heels I have broken super-stretching my legs today is out of control.

Clark Kent: I'm happy that you have a new found appreciation for my wardrobe, but today of all days, I need you to be more careful.

Lois Lane: Well, I'm almost 50% certain that the Burgundy Blur pulled it all off without a hitch.

Clark Kent: This is when I would use my superhearing - to listen in on the Marionette boys to see how they operate.

Lois Lane: Right, and a big part of that is the squinty head tilt, yes?

Clark Kent: Apparently.

Jor-El: [voice] There are two paths laid before you, Kara. You can leave Earth now and allow Kal-El to embrace his destiny, or you can stay and help him, risking the future of this planet.

Kara: Kal-El and I have fought Darkseid before.

Jor-El: [voice] You involved Kal-El against my wishes. He was too weak then, and he was almost overcome by darkness. You have grown strong. Your will is no longer at the mercy of my command. You will need that strength to forge your own path. It is in your hands to choose.

Kara: You want me to just walk away?

Jor-El: [voice] Kara, your own destiny is written. It is in another place and time. But this is Kal-El's battle, and he must fight it alone. Even though a time will come when he turns away from me, in the end, he will make the right decision. He is ready. This is his time.

Kara: He's the only family I have left. I have to at least warn him.

Jor-El: [voice] Sometimes the greatest sacrifice a person can make is to give up what they hold most dear.

Winslow Schott: What's to say I just don't tell the whole world who you really are?

Clark Kent: Something tells me if you really wanted to, you already would have. But then, we wouldn't be able to play anymore, would we? No matter how many of you band together, what games you decide to play, I'll always be there to stop you.

Jor-El: [voice] Kal-El, I trust you found my gift to the both of you illuminating.

Clark Kent: It wasn't a gift. It was a trial. And it wasn't about Lois appreciating what it was like to have my abilities or me realizing what it was like to be human. It was about control.

Jor-El: [voice] Your trials are not a riddle, Kal-El. They are a stepping stone on a long path.

Clark Kent: A path that I have blindly walked forever, but I understand now. This whole time, it's been up to me to decide when to take control of my own destiny. The trials end when I'm ready for them to end.

Jor-El: [voice] Your journey is far from over.

Clark Kent: But I can only be only what the world needs when I can finally admit that I am no longer just the son of Jor-El or Jonathan Kent. And you knew the time would come when neither of you can guide me anymore, and that time... is now. Goodbye, Jor-El.

Lois Lane: I was so weak, Clark. You know, the very moment that Toyman threatened you, I put on that diode, and I let him control me... because you're my greatest weakness. And I'm afraid that I will be yours.

Clark Kent: You're not my weakness. You're my strength. Okay? And I'm sorry that Jor-El dragged you into one of my trails, but it's over. Jor-El is as much a part of my past as the farm. My destiny is marrying you and for us to create our own future together. Come on, everyone's waiting.

Lois Lane: Clark, I'm sorry. After today, I realized that us being together makes you vulnerable. And I - I can't just sit and watch a movie and eat ice cream, when at that very moment you could be saving five people. Clark, every moment of your life that I take for myself, I am stealing from people that need saved.

Clark Kent: Lois, what are you saying?

Lois Lane: [takes off ring] I'm s...

Clark Kent: What is this?

Lois Lane: [crying] I'm sorry, Clark.

Clark Kent: No.

Lois Lane: I can't marry you.

Oliver Queen: [reading off the Bow of Orion] "The only true power comes from within."

Granny Goodness: How deliciously selfish of you to want the bow just so you could remove the stain we put on your soul.

[Granny destroys the Bow of Orion]

Oliver Queen: No!

Granny Goodness: Thank you. You see, those traps we designed to keep the prophets out. Orion's bow was a light like the world will never see again. It's been the one power that Darkseid could not defeat.

Oliver Queen: I will find a way somehow to defeat you.

Granny Goodness: From the moment you were marked, you've been serving him. But you're not like the rest of your brethren. You've got real potential, and we've got bigger plans for you. Don't worry, dear. You won't remember any of this.

Oliver Queen: So let me get this straight - whoever wields the Bow of Orion can use it to vanquish darkness. Is that what you're saying?

Kara: According to the prophecy, yeah.

Oliver Queen: Well, that's me. Think about it - a bow, right? The medium is the message.

Kara: You never told me why you were seeking it.

Oliver Queen: Well, promise you won't tell anyone, but I'm trying to change my fate. The Bow of Orion is the key. It worked for him, right?

Kara: Only after he found the strength to turn away from the darkness, even though that meant turning away from his father.

Oliver Queen: Orion is Darkseid's son.

Kara: Yes. He was raised by some who believes in spreading the light instead of the darkness his birth-father created. And eventually he swore to serve that light instead.
