Trivia

Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) sing a medley of the songs "Happy Days Are Here Again" and "Come on, Get Happy." This combination and arrangement was first performed by Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland on an October 1963 episode of "The Judy Garland Show." Rachel's and Kurt's costumes in this scene are also nods to the Garland-Streisand duet: Streisand wore a white satin sailor-style blouse with a dark tie and Rachel wore a replica of that top; Garland wore a shiny dress and Kurt wore a shiny suit. Goofs

Kurt mentions that "Make 'Em Laugh" in "Singin' in the Rain" is a duet. It is, in fact, a solo number performed by Donald O'Connor. The closest to a duet it gets is when he uses a life-size rag doll as a prop. The big Gene Kelly/Donald O'Connor number is "Moses Supposes". See more »

Quotes

Kurt Hummel: [whispers] Psst... He's on Team Gay. No straight boy dyes his hair to look like Linda Evangelista circa 1993.
Mercedes Jones: You're crazy, circa 2010.

"Duets" is another fine episode of "Glee"
23 October 2010 | by (Baton Rouge, La.) – See all my reviews

As this "Glee" episode begins, we find out from Will that Puck is in juvie for stealing an ATM machine. What a convenient way to explain Mark Salling's absence. Also not present is Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester so many of the show's funniest lines here is courtesy of Heather Morris as the dim bulb Brittany Pierce though her character gets a little more depth when she attempts a relationship with the wheelchair-stuck Artie who's still not over Tina who herself is still happily with Mike who not only has a lot of lines for once but also does a fine duet of "Sing!" with her. In fact, there are plenty of good teamings like that of Satanna and Mercedes on "River Deep, Mountain High", new guy Sam and Quinn on "Lucky", Rachel and Kurt on "Happy Days are Here Again/Get Happy", and, of course, Rachel and Finn on both "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" and "With You I'm Born Again" with the latter in the most inappropriate costumes! Many funny parts mixed with the usual poignant ones like that concerning Kurt and his father's health. Now that I've seen all the previous eps, I can't wait for next Tuesday's one with the Rocky Horror theme...
