IMDbTV Pick: Showtime's "Penny Dreadful"

The subtle trick Showtime's "Penny Dreadful is that it is far less about the blood, gore and the specter of gruesome death than the sharp pain and exhilarating pleasure of living, and the terror of feeling alone even in close company. Read our review in the May Picks section.

Goofs

Sue's "civics lesson" is jam packed with misinformation about who can do what in the public schools with regards to religion. Staff are very restricted. They can not be seen as promoting or restricting any religious expression. Students, on the other hand, have just as much freedom inschool as outside school to express their religious beliefs. In this episode, the students (as long as they are not coached to do so by Mr. Shue) can sing any religious/spiritual song they wish, even a blatantly religious one, such as a hymn. Sue is the one breaking the law, not Will. See more »

Religion At It's Worst... well... not worst
31 January 2015 | by See all my reviews

Oh My God.... this episode was just generally bad... grilled cheeses... this is actually the only episode so far when I've been supporting Kurt and Sue not because of his father but because of his views about religion... Why did they make this a god episode?! WHYYYYY?! God is a piece of crap... a piece of dog sh*t shoved in the microwave and thrown in our faces it actually disgusts me that people believe in this dog sh*t like oh my god and if you don't like the fact that god isn't real than guess what he isn't you might as well stop now cause when you die... the sad fact is you aren't going to a mystical fantasy world in the sky, but u are going to be wrote underground for eternity in nothingness. I honestly can't believe such a good show as glee can go this low i just can't get it through my head. this episode is hard to watch without laughing your ass off at the insanely stupid mindsets of people who obviously don't use the logic section of their brain... its the truth people
