Storyline

Beckett is contacted by John Raglan, the investigating detective on the homicide of her mother, who is dying and, tormented by his conscience, has information about the original failed investigation. But before he can pass it on, Raglan is murdered by a sniper in front of Castle and Beckett; determined to uncover what Raglan knew, Beckett begins to investigate old leads in her mother's murder, but is soon suspended from the case after her integrity is challenged by her emotional investment. As Ryan and Esposito continue the investigation, Castle and Beckett launch their own unofficial inquiries -- and both teams soon find themselves up against a mysterious individual with power and influence who is willing to kill to ensure his secrets remain safe. Goofs

When Detective Ryan is being drowned in ice-cold water by Hal Lockwood's thugs, Lockwood explains the drowning effects to Esposito and how "he'll lose consciousness right away." Lockwood's mouth movements, however, do not match this line. See more »

John Raglan: Detective Beckett?
Kate Beckett: Yeah.
John Raglan: This is John Raglan. I was lead investigator on your mother's homicide twelve years ago.
Kate Beckett: I remember you, Detective Raglan.
John Raglan: Listen, I... We need to talk, about your mother's case. There's something you don't know. There's a coffee shop at 4th and Main. Meet me there in an hour. Just you. No cops.

Intense/moving
25 January 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This was the most intense and yet emotionally moving episode to date. Just when you think you have answers, all you end up with is more questions! Ryan and Esposito really step up to the plate in this episode. They really prove they are more than just good cops. Martha poses a great question to Rick, but of course he never directly answers it! But it seems that Rick is finally taking a look at things for what they really are. Beckett has never looked better. She is unbelievably gorgeous in this episode. However, she appears to show a different side of her self in this episode! A side that I personally love! Be sure and check this episode out. It would be great if you have already been watching the other seasons, but by itself, this episode is top notch! Excellent episode!
