Trivia

During a "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment with Lionel Richie, a wheel broke off as his Suzuki Liana was approaching one of the fastest parts of the course. Richie managed to keep the car under control and got another go at his fastest lap (something which is not normally allowed). The sequence was aired in the UK as part of the show (complete with an embarrassed Jeremy Clarkson), but appears not to have been in the US where an edited version of the show is screened. Quotes

Richard Hammond: [discussing Sabine's Schmitz drive round Nurburgring] Don't forget, she was only half a second a mile behind you, and she was in this van.
Jeremy Clarkson: I think we should explain. The Nurburgring, as I'm sure some of you know, is sort of open the whole time. You can pay five pounds to go on a lap, so there were other cars out there as well.
Richard Hammond: It was just an ordinary day, and you saw them. There were guys in their Porsches, "Look at me in my Porsche, ha ha!" and they were overtaken by a van. Driven by a girl!

Worth every penny the BBC invests.
25 May 2006 | by (Cape Town, South Africa) – See all my reviews

While it can be argued that more substantial programmes exist, whether fictional or not, it is certain that Top Gear is an extraordinarily entertaining show with plenty to keep most on their bolsters. This is certainly due to the faithful backing of the BBC, but more importantly, to the three crazed bloody lunatics who host the series. Clarkson, May and Hammond share between each other many decades worth of experience in broadcasting, as well as motoring, and are impeccable contrasts well matched for their respective opinions 'n roles. The various features included in the shows and the involvement in these & all motoring matters, are exemplary, and quite frankly, unmatched by anything television has yet seen. I can safely assume that no better motoring show exists anywhere. I love it, so will you, guaranteed.
