Storyline

A diverse group of New Orleans artists and musicians struggle to find meaning in their lives, work, and relationships one year after Katrina. A nuanced view of the city and its people, it shows the changing landscape of New Orleans as it has never been seen before, dispelling the stereotypes of Bourbon Street and Twenties' jazz to reveal the tragic, defiant, joyful city many call 'the Soul of America.' A movie that feels like New Orleans
7 October 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I've seen this movie twice, both times at New Orleans screenings, with New Orleans audiences, and found it gripping and inspiring both times. It's been interesting to watch storytellers, artists, writers, movie makers tell the various After stories and this is a good one, one that captures what After meant to a group of New Orleanians, specific characters who could (and do!) really exist here, but who we almost never see in films. New Orleans deals with the most overwhelming experiences with its own brand of humor and this movie finds those perfect moments to show us exactly what it was like. Flood Streets tells a story of who these people were and are, Before and After, and always.
