Today's episode zeroes in on discipline, and/or the lack of it. The three families are examined in ways of how they deal with this important aspect of raising a family.
For Claire and Phil, they must face a situation created when Luke and Manny barged, unannounced in the girls' room when the girls were changing. Claire threatens all kinds of punishment. Phil, trying to stay away from the conflict, gets it from Claire. She wants him to get the girls into cleaning their own bathroom that needs it badly. Phil who was looking forward taking the boys to ride at a theme park, which Claire ultimately does, leaving Phil to take care of Haley and Alex.
Cameron and Mitchell have tickets for a Lady Gaga concert. Cam is not feeling well, a big disappointment for his partner who has all intentions of going to see this gay icon in person. Mitch gets help from Claire. He must do everything possible to make Cam feel better so maybe he is ready for the show, but Cam is clearly not up to going. Mitch is determined to go anyhow. At the end we see Mitch is seen sitting next to his sleeping partner wearing the glittering souvenir from the concert, which betrays his explanation to Cam of having been in all night.
At Jay and Gloria's there is a different situation. Gloria has been talking to Guillermo, an enterprising man with a good idea for starting his own business for pets. He has brought along one of the dogs. Jay is not too fond of the idea of having Guillermo leave the pooch, but Manny is all excited when he sees the dog. Jay finally ends the stand by accepting the cute little dog for the house.
Fred Savage directed this episode written by Abraham Higginbotham, Jeffrey Richman and Elaine Ko. There are laughs in this chapter as the different stories play out. The cast does a wonderful job under Mr. Savage direction.
