After Sgt. Gabriel inadvertently receives a frantic call from a California Parole Commissioner saying that someone is in her house, Brenda and Priority Homicide investigate her murder after the police arrive at the woman's home and find her dead. The woman had been trying to reach Det. Frank Verico who dealt in stalking cases. He had urged the Commissioner to ask for police protection after she told him someone had been in her house while she was away but she refused to get help. Brenda approaches the case in her typically methodical way but Pope is driving her crazy, obviously worried about how this might reflect on his chances for the Chief position. When she suggests that he take over the case if he doesn't like what she's doing, Pope shocks her by doing just that. Now pushed to the sidelines, she looks into the case her way. Written by
