This ep forshadows the trouble in season 7
MiketheWhistle24 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Gabriel's actions against Brenda foreshadows what's going to happen in Season 7. David's actions are blatant insubordination and so much trouble would have been avoided had they just addressed it now.

You're used to siding with the victim

Warning: Spoilers
New Chief of Police Thomas Delk mentioned to Brenda he would not have any of the specialty divisions standing around idle. When a crime occurred, he wanted all divisions to be up to the task staying busy, so when this crackhead is picked up by the mounted patrol, Commander Taylor gives it to Major Crimes. Brenda gets in his grill about there is no victim, but consents to take the case when Taylor mentioned Delk. Events do escalate when a vehicle is found with a body in the trunk and another person is missing with two suspects in custody.

Addiction doesn't discriminate, Park Avenue to park bench, it could happen to anyone, interjects Lt. Flynn when Brenda inquires how their man ended up on skid row.

Brenda falls for the addict's excuses until Agent Howard or Fritz sits Brenda down for a talk regarding what addiction really involves, i.e. how addiction effects individuals and they're day-to-day fight to stay clean; it is Fritz putting the current case in perspective for Brenda for her to understand the pitied crackhead is guilty; because once an addict, always an addict. Brenda finally understands something clearly at last after she learns firsthand what her husband lives with every day and what exactly he went through before he joined AA.

Brenda's comment after listening to Fritz's personal addiction, you're making it sound like you are a monster, but you're not a monster. You're the most decent person I know. Fritz comes back with I'm both, honey, I am sorry, I'm both. Are you all right? Brenda responds to her husband about her mental state, I don't know, how did I get this all so wrong? Fritz's answer because you're used to siding with the victim. That's how addicts see themselves, nothing, nothing is ever their fault.

Brenda does nail the initial suspect her husband requested her to check again. They find the other victim tied in a storage container after Brenda gets the addict to confess where he had stashed her. Sometimes our heroine can lose perspective and it takes others, i.e. Fritz, Flynn and Gabriel to wake her up. A worthy episode, let alone to close out season six. You're used to siding with the victim are words that rang true.
