'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' DVD Exclusive: Thor Attacks!

24 October 2011 2:00 PM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

You might have to wait until May to see the Avengers assemble on the big screen, but you can check out the adventures of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk on DVD tomorrow (October 25) when volumes 3 and 4 of the animated series "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" hits stores. We have an exclusive clip from the new DVD release. Check it out below!

In the exclusive clip, you get to see the prince of Asgard squaring off against one of Captain America's nemeses Baron Zemo and his Masters of Evil. Fans of the comics should recognize a number of characters like Baron Zemo, who haven't made their way into the film adaptations quite yet, including Kang the Conqueror. Thor does his best even though he's out-matched against the Masters of Evil, but the fight is just a little too unfair.

The Week in Spandex – Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, X-Men, Wonder Woman and more…

Presenting our weekly round-up of all the biggest news stories from the world of movie superheroes…

The mystery surrounding Michael Shannon’s motion-captured exploits as General Zod deepened this past week when set photos emerged from Man of Steel depicting the Kryptonian villain in a black costume similar in design to Henry Cavill’s Superman suit. Shannon – who appears to be sporting a goatee in the latest images – spoke to Collider about how his casting in the Zack Snyder-directed reboot came about, while he also told The Playlist to expect a vastly different interpretation from that of Terence Stamp: ““I found his performance so powerful that I would be overwhelmed by it if I tried to incorporate it into what I’m doing. There’s no reason to try and replicate it cos it’s perfect the way it is. I’m just trying to go down a different road with it, »

"Hobbit" Dwarf Centerfolds: Balin & Dwalin

15 July 2011 9:20 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

The unveilings continue for Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" with today's dwarf pictorial coming from Time Magazine.

Their photo shows the dwarf lords Balin (Ken Stott) and Dwalin (Graham McTavish), brothers who are close relatives and the "most loyal and trusted friends" of the Company's leader Thorin Oakshield.

Balin has fought many battles but harbors doubts about their quest, Dwalin has no such doubts and is a strong fighter with a distrust of all non-Dwarves - especially Elves.

Both Stott and McTavish are Scottish actors best known for their TV work but have had plenty of big screen experience as well.

Stott is mostly known for British police dramas such as taking over the title role in the detective series "Rebus" from "The Mummy" actor John Hannah in 2006 and 2007. Stott also scored much acclaim and an award nomination for his work as Di Chappell in ITV police »

Marvel Boosts Disney TV Ratings To All Time High

3 January 2011 4:57 AM, PST | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Here's yet more tangible proof that the Disney/Marvel merger was a good thing from a money-making Pov: with help from various Marvel properties such as The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man,  X-Men, and X-Men Evolution, 2010 became Disney Xd's most watched year ever (including as Toon Disney) in Total Day and Primetime with Total Viewers and kid demos.

In Total Day the network hit all time highs with Total Viewers (270,000) and K6-11 (107,000) and Boys 6-11 (69,000), the latter two demos up +14% and +17% respectively.

In Primetime Disney Xd set records in Total Viewers (325,000) and among K6-11 (136,000) and Boys 6-11 (89,000), the latter two demos up by +21% and +24%, as well as with Tweens 9-14 (105,000) and Boys 9-14 (71,000), increasing by +28% and +29% respectively.

These were exactly the demographics that Disney was purported to be targeting, and it looks like they got them. In addition, of course, »
