‘Kon-Tiki’, the Norwegian film nominated for Best Foreign Feature at the Oscars, releases a new trailer

One of the more interesting categories at the Academy Awards in any given year is the Foreign Film category. Often up in the air, the category serves to highlight some of the best films and filmmakers working outside the Hollywood system, and can often act as a showcase for a burgeoning film industry in a country, as well as a promising film talent for fans of the medium. The 83rd Annual Academy Awards is no exception, with the foreign film category having one entry from Norway that has yet to see a North American release. The film, titled Kon-Tiki, has now released a trailer, which can be seen below.

Useful Tip When Holding Your Oscar: Keep Your Thumb Below The Bum

The Oscars are a few days away. Can you feel the excitement in the air? Billy Crystal is hosting. My mom is pretty psyched for that. So to really kick up the excitement to 11, Oscar.com posted this video on Oscar etiquette which features something that’s kind of a rarity these days: Mike Myers being funny. The video also features Kevin Kline, who apparently has been handling his Oscar rather poorly and needs a refresher course from Sir Cecil Worthington (Myers). The video made me laugh and when you do that, you can sit next to me anytime.

Muppet or an 'Awww maaaan!'?: Oscars to reportedly nix Best Original Song performances
Haven’t you heard? Life’s a happy song! Unless, of course, you were hoping to sing that happy song on stage at the Academy Awards. According to Deadline, the Oscars are not having performances from either of this year’s Best Original Song nominees. That means no Bret McKenzie (or Jason Segel) doing a duet with Walter (or Jim Parsons) on their song from The Muppets, “Man or Muppet,” or a bouncy number from legendary Brazilian musician Sérgio Mendes and the nominated song from Rio, “Real in Rio.”

While Deadline reports that the decision to not have musical numbers

Fassbender Package Punchline Watch: Mourning the 'Shame' star's Oscar snub properly

Fassbender Package Punchline Watch: Mourning the 'Shame' star's Oscar snub properly
We’re all mourning Michael Fassbender’s Oscar snub (and the loss of whatever classy, clever joke Billy Crystal was going to make). But I find looking at Best Week Ever’s 50 Reasons The Oscars Don’t Matter Anymore – which includes 50 photos of “Faszy (Hungarian for ‘penisy’)” — therapeutic. I mean, in at least 40 of those pictures he’s fully clothed, which he’d most likely have been on Oscar night. In 47 of those photos, he’s not even reclining. He’d have to sit upright through the Oscars. Plus, no way a TV camera would make his eyes look as

50 Reasons The Oscars Don’t Matter Anymore

The Academy Award nominations were announced yesterday, and we couldn’t help but notice an extreme oversight: No mention of Michael Fassbender’s penis’ amazing work in the sex-fueled thriller Shame. Now if you know me, and your name is Michael Fassbender, than this is a dream and I should probably gather my things and leave before he wakes up. If this is real life, however, then you know that my love for Faszy (Hungarian for “penisy”) is as infinite as his icy blue gaze. And his penis’ star turn in Shame should have easily nabbed him a nomination, if only for the benefit of Billy Crystal’s team of jokewriters. But alas, Fassbender was left out in the cold, his abs just shivering, his penis… still probably pretty big, as he feels what it’s like to be out of Hollywood’s glow. It is because of this snub that it hit us…

Oscar nominations 2012: Hugo leads with 11 to The Artist's 10

The Oscars buck awards trend by awarding Martin Scorsese's Hugo 11 nominations, while The Artist trails with 10 and The Descendants with five

Full list of nominations

Following an awards season so far notable for its predictability, the Academy today upset the apple cart by awarding Martin Scorsese's 3D film 11 nominations, leaving Michel Hazanavicius's much-tipped The Artist trailing with 10.

Meanwhile, Bennett Miller's Moneyball took six nominations, as did War Horse, with Alexander Payne's The Descendants - which had been tipped as The Artist's one to beat - taking just five. Tate Taylor's The Help went home with just four, including two in the supporting actress category.

The nine films that made the Academy's best picture list (which this year could come in between five and 10) are The Artist, The Descendants, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life and War Horse.
