The bulk of the film was filmed in a single flat in Hatfield. The crew redressed the flat three times to make it look like Ailidh, Mrs Nicholls and Jacquelines individual flats as well as filming in the stairwells. Everyone who lived there seemed pretty relaxed about the whole thing given that the cast and crew were there for three weeks.
The crew also shot in a kitchen in another flat for Mrs Nicholls' kitchen, just to keep up the fun puzzle of trying to make all these locations look like the same place.
The original kitchen was pretty nasty with a horrible yellow colour. After filming they wanted the crew to reinstate the colour again. "I think they thought it was brightening the room up but they must have been mad." - Bryan O'Neil.
Rollo Weeks (Jacob) had to learn a small amount of French for a scene in Booked Out during day 2 of shooting.
Whenever Mirren Burke (Ailidh) had a scene on her own, it was filmed using a handheld camera. The aim was for the movement to reflect the passionate environment that she lives and dreams within.
Writer Brian O'Neil appeared in Mark West's (one of the Booked Out composers) music videos for his band The Lost Cavalry. He was chosen because he was the only person who had a beard like a frozen arctic DJ.
