America's Wolfman
12 June 2014 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

As might be expected, this is a documentary that promises more than it delivers. In scientific terms it delivers nothing, because the very least it needs to produce is the body of if not an actual werewolf then something akin to one. Alas, neither "Monsterquest" nor any other documentary, book or piece of research ever does because to do so would require rewriting – if not the laws of physics as with miracles – then everything we know and understand about biology, zoology and evolution.

Nevertheless, countless millions of people throughout the world continue to be attracted to this sort of nonsense, which is really a light-hearted romp through a modern fairy tale, even if it is dressed up as something far more serious. Ironically, rather than proving the existence of werewolves, this documentary succeeds in debunking the hoax known as "The Gable Film". A sheep in a wolf's clothing?
