Taut Thriller with Some Nice Twists
2 January 2012 | by (Ashton, Virginia) – See all my reviews

Man, you've got some crazy comments on this thing. It sounds like one guy is doing most of the flaming. I'm Black-American and a Christian and love this film. I'm not super religious, but love God.

I must confess the main reason I adore this movie is because of Malcolm McDowell, who is not only such a bad *** in this film, but is absolutely perfect in his role as "the devil". Oh, and Corbin Bernsen (that cat from the TV show) is very good as well. The plot is not straightforward and the twists keep this from degenerating into a formulaic trial movie. The tension builds steadily. Jeff Gannon makes an excellent bad guy as the lawyer for the devil and there are several good supporting roles, especially that of Dennis Cole and Chad as the judge. The only black mark on the film is the lead, who is either badly miscast or else just can't act. I have seen this movie at least 10 times and I enjoy it every time.
