When Booth and Bones were in the diner, Dr. Sweets enters with an identification of the witch from the Salem Witch Trials. He says she was the only woman who died by pressing, including the fact that an 80 year old man also died in this same manner. This man was Giles Corey, who was also a character in The Crucible (1996)
Angela's middle name is Pearly Gates, which is her father, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, nickname for his famous 1959 Les Paul Standard guitar.
Both Booth and Brennan mention Eye of Newt. Eye of newt is from the witches scene in Shakespeare's "Macbeth".
It's a real thing, but not literally.
All of the ingredients in the witches in Macbeth are simply ancient terms for herbs, flowers and plants.
Eye of newt - mustard seed,
Toe of frog - buttercup,
Wool of bat - holly leaves,
Tongue of dog - houndstongue (a plant),
Adders fork - adders tongue (another plant),
Blind-worm - a tiny legless lizard that's not blind or a worm or a snake.
The title is a reference to the book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.
Angela's full name is stated to be Angela Pearly Gates Montenegro (as heard in a much earlier episode) - except that isn't her real name. Her eccentric father gave her a name so bad she is unwilling to say it out aloud.
