Storyline

In this prequel to "Lonesome Dove" after unit has been partially wiped out by Comanches, Augustus and Woodrow join a megalomaniac former pirate Colonel Cobb in an ill-advised military expedition to annex Sabte Fe on behalf of the fledgling Republic of Texas but do count on attacks by ruthless Native Americans, especially the seemingly invincible Buffalo Hump.
