Storyline

Marion (Delpy) has broken up with Jack (Two Days in Paris) and now lives in New York with their child. But when her family decides to come visit her, she's unaware that the different cultural background held by her new American boyfriend Mingus (Rock), her eccentric father, and her sister Rose who decided to bring her ex-boyfriend along for the trip, added to her upcoming photo exhibition, will make up for an explosive mix. Quotes

Marion: If you live your life with one person only, one day they'll be gone or you'll be gone. And one of you will be left in the cold world. The family we are born in eventually vanishes. By then you have created your own family if you're lucky. First you have to choose the person you'll build this family with, and stick to it as much as possible. How many tries do you get before you strike out? When my mother died, just a few hours before the end, she looked in my eyes and had the expression of a ...

never heard of this movie .....
10 September 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

..... but i enjoyed every minute. chris rock is always fun and funny and the actress playing his wife pulls off her character to perfection.

the household of screwball Americans and visiting French family sharing one small apartment in NYC has more twist and turns the viewer cannot guess what will happen next. and in that is the charm of this lighthearted story.

be prepared to get lost reading the English subtitles of the French speaking visitors. i could hardly keep up! but the story and characters draw you in and the viewer is compelled to become intellectually involved with the wife and her anxieties.

this is a weird and delightful film and very unlike what you would expect from American corporate movie makers.
