Trivia

Future plans for more shows were canceled due to the low buyrate, horrible critical reaction, and, worst of all, Jake "The Snake" Roberts' drunken performance, which included him dragging Damien the snake out of his bag and stroking him as if he was masturbating. See more »

Goofs

Commentator Randy Rosenbloom frequently misidentified wrestling moves, including calling an armdrag by Marty Jannetty a "reverse slam takedown," and was incapable of calling a dropkick, instead calling it a "flying kick," a "flying leg kick" and even a "leg drop," which is a completely different move. Worst Wrestling PPV Of All Time
11 October 2014 | by See all my reviews

'Heroes of Wresting' has been said by critics to be the worst PPV of all time. So I decided let's review to see if it's really bad. The big deal about this PPV was it featured a lot of legends and wrestlers that were no longer in the WWE and WCW. Let's see if this PPV is as bad as everyone says. We start with the commentators Dutch Mantel (Good old Zeb Colter) and Randy Rosenbloom saying that we will get a historic moment in the form of the King Kong Bundy and Yokozuna confrontation (The planned main event of the PPV). An intro is shown which shows some stars that will be there that night and then a tribute for Gorilla Monsoon is aired

Match 1: Samoan Swat Team (Samu and the Samoan Savage) vs. Marty Jannetty and Tommy Rogers(RIP)

An okay match to start the show, but it has some odd dropkicks I mean "flying leg kicks". I'm not kidding that's what Randy calls a dropkick and he also calls an arm drag a takedown. Samoan Swat Team wins after a distraction. Tommy Rogers took the pin.

Next there's a segment with George the Animal Steele and Sherri Martel (R.I.P.) as a couple. Wait, when did they hook up? There's even a part where it teases a sex scene.

Match 2: George "The Animal" Steele (w. Shari Martel) vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine

This was an awful match. Both men were past their prime. George wrestles in his shirt until it gets stuck on hisface and then Sherri turns on him and then hits George with the chairto help Greg win the match. George then attacks Greg and Sherri after the loss. Julio Fantastico cuts a promo on 2 Cold Scorpio and calls himself the Michael Jordan of pro wrestling. That's weird because he's not well known at all.

Match 3: Julio Fantastico vs. 2 Cold Scorpio It was a decent match. 2 Cold Scorpio came out with a replica of the WCW world title for some reason. Randy has a new name for the dropkick, it's now the leg drop. Lou Albano (R.I.P.) is the commissioner for this promotion. Some mess ups in this match. 2 Cold Scorpio wins with the Scorpio drop.

Match 4: Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff vs. The Butchwakers (Luke and Butch)

The worst tag team match that I have ever seen. All the guys involved couldn't move since all were past their primes At times all of them started wandering off. The Bushwakers win with a clothesline. A segment shows Stan Lane attacking Tully Blanchard, and then Blanchard cuts a good promo.

Match 5: Tully Blanchard vs. Stan Lane

This was a pretty bad match match. Both guys were great in their prime, but were now past that. Tully Blanchard wins with a controversial ending.

Match 6: Abdullah the Butcher vs. One Man Gang

Worst match of the night. After both guys bleed with a lot of mess ups the match ends in a no contest.

Next there's a card game segment with Jimmy Snuka and Cowboy Bob Orton, which is supposed to explain why they're fighting. Why didn't they just say that they hated each other before the first WrestleMania?

Match 7: Cowboy Bob Orton vs. Jimmy Snuka with Lou Albano

Match of the night. Wasn't anything special but was better then all the other matches on the card. The crowd chants that Bob's a f**got. Jimmy Snuka wins with a cross body.

Jake Roberts' promo:

Terrible, terrible promo. It's a shame since Jake in my opinion is one of the best at promos. But Jake was really drunk during this. It gets to the point that the interviewer becomes really uncomfortable, along with everyone who watches this.

Main Event: Jake Roberts and Yokozuna (R.I.P.) vs. Jim the Anvil Neidhart and King Kong Bundy

Terrible main event. It was supposed to be Jake Roberts vs. Jim Neidhart first, and then the main event would be Yokozuna vs. King Kong Bundy. Jake was so drunk that he couldn't compete. He comes out he has a female fan rub his chest. He also grabs Damien and puts him b/w his legs and plays with him like he's masturbating. Jake is just stumbling outside when Bundy comes out from the back to attack him. Then, Yokozuna comes out (who looks bigger than ever) and it's converted into a tag match. Jake pretty much gets his ass kicked and eventually makes the hot tag to Yokozuna. Zuna kicks ass but then Bundy attacks Jake and pins him even though Jake wasn't the legal man. Wait…….What? Yes that's how the match ends. Yokozuna holds Bundy and Neidhart's manager for Jake to DDT him, but Jake is too drunk. Yokozuna gives the manager a Samoan Drop and the PPV ends with Jake putting the Snake on the manager.

Final Thoughts:

This was an awful PPV. I could see why critics hate it. Jake was in a very dark place. Yokozuna was really overweight to be competing (he would pass away the next year). Most of the wrestlers involved were way past their primes. I'll give this a 0/10. This was a totally awful wrestling event. I rather have a buffalo with diarrhea take a dump in my ear and have a bottom-less Rikishi hit me with the stink face than watching this PPV again.
