One of 7 DVD extras that the package designers crammed onto the SMOKIN' ACES 2: ASSASSIN'S BALL disc (5 of which are described on separate IMDb pages, including this one), BUNKER MENTALITY starts out fine--then just quits. It is really too bad (though not tragic; a tornado is tragic, this is just annoying) that the time the EPK making-of people wasted on the wrong-headed extra titled CUE THE CLOWN was not eliminated in favor of three more minutes of face time with SA2 production designer Chris August. After feature director P.J. Pesce and executive producer Joe Carnahan describe how the story's location was changed from New Orleans to Chicago to accommodate the plot's underground bunker (in the Big Easy, of course, even the dead stay topside), Mr. August starts to delve into the nitty gritty details of creating an art deco hideout that combines 19th Century subterranean runnings of the bulls with the mystique of an early 20th Century hidden speakeasy. Apparently the powers that be in the SMOKIN' ACES universe feel that their audience is more into exploding clowns than gangsters and grottoes.
