Tributes are flowing for Chris Chamberlin, one of the media and entertainment industry.s most popular and respected publicists who died yesterday, 10 days before his 40th birthday.

A senior national publicist for the ABC since 2014, Chamberlin was on holidays in India. The cause of death has not been revealed.

.Chris was highly regarded and respected by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him,. Leisa Bacon, the ABC.s director of audiences, said in an email to staff.

.Chris has managed campaigns for projects across all TV genres - news, factual, entertainment and children.s programs. The list of credits is enormous and Chris knew everything there was to know about developing publicity opportunities for marketing campaigns. He built strong relationships with on-air talent, through to production teams and key media outlets.

'Wolf Creek' star Dustin Clare joins newly re-titled 'Pacific Rim: Uprising'

Aussie actor Dustin Clare has joined the newly retitled Pacific Rim: Uprising (previously Pacific Rim: Maelstrom) alongside John Boyega and Scott Eastwood.

Steven S. DeKnight is directing the project, with Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and Guillermo del Toro (the director of the original) producing alongside Boyega and Femi Oguns..

Cale Boyter is exec producing the Universal/Legendary pic, which will bow in theaters February 23 next year.

Clare appeared in Stan's recent Wolf Creek series. His other credits include All Saints, McLeod's Daughters, Underbelly, The Eye of the Storm and Goddess.

The actor is probably best known internationally for starring roles in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Spartacus: War of the Damned. Starz's Spartacus franchise has form with Australians, with the late Andy Whitfield and Suicide Squad's Jai Courtney starring in the first season..

Victoria honours two screen industry leaders

Documentary filmmaker Sonya Pemberton and post production maven John Fleming are the latest recipients of the Film Victoria Screen Leader Awards.

The agency also announced the creation of two awards for a director and screenwriter in 2016, honouring Fred Schepisi and Jan Sardi.

The Film Victoria — Fred Schepisi Award for Achievement in Directing salutes the director, producer and screenwriter who made his name with The Devil.s Playground and The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith.

Among his stellar credits are Iceman, Barbarosa, Plenty, Roxanne, Six Degrees of Separation, Iq, Evil Angels, Last Orders, The Eye of the Storm and Words and Pictures.

Schepisi boards comic thriller

Fred Schepisi is attached to direct Andorra, an adaptation of American author Peter Cameron.s thriller/dark comic novel.

The protagonist is Alexander Fox, a 40-year-old Yank who ends up in the tiny nation of Andorra where he befriends an Australian couple who had moved there. Complications arise when Fox falls in love with the wife and a dead body is found floating in the harbour.

Jamie Bialkower.s Melbourne-based Jump Street Films optioned the novel in 2013 and he subsequently teamed up with Lizzette Atkins. Unicorn Films, who produced Sue Brooks. Looking for Grace. He wrote the screenplay with Cameron.

James Ivory and Natalie Miller are the executive producers. Miller.s Sharmill Films and Jump Street Films will distribute in Australia.

Hollywood is over-flowing with screen heroines in action films, dramas and comedies, but where are Australia.s?

Two of our most respected film critics/writers have pondered that question and come up with some intriguing theories.

Multi-platform release for Oz/Nz drama

Cross-Tasman drama Sunday will test the potential for simultaneous multi-platform release when it launches on May 2 in nine cinemas and on DVD and on-demand services.

The feature directing debut of Michelle Joy Lloyd, the film co-stars Camille Keenan and Dustin Clare, who co-wrote the script with Lloyd.

Set in Melbourne and Christchurch one year after the earthquake that devastated the latter, the plot follows Eve and Charlie, who are about to have a baby although they are no longer together.. After months of separation they have 24 hours to find their way forward.

Keenan, whose credits include Underbelly, Packed to the Rafters and Satisfaction, was pregnant with the couple.s son during filming.

Rare screen role for Helen Morse

Helen Morse and Robert Taylor will join Reef Ireland and Kerry Fox in Downriver, an Australian mystery drama that aims to court controversy.

The feature debut of writer-director Grant Scicluna, the film is due to start shooting in Victoria on November 5.

Ireland (Puberty Blues, Wentworth, Blessed) will play James, a teenager who is sent to prison for drowning a little boy when he was a child, although the body was never found.

In an attempt to uncover the truth, he takes dangerous risks to find redemption and return the missing body to the grieving mother.

Full guest line up for Sydney Film Festival 2014

Paz Vega, Carmen Maura Head Down Under With Jim Loach

Hong Kong – Spanish stars Paz Vega and Carmen Maura join with Edward James Olmos in the untitled new picture by British director Jim Loach which starts shooting next month.

The director returns to Australia where he previously made “Oranges And Sunshine” (pictured) with Emily Watson and Hugo Weaving.

Scripted by Judy Morris (“Happy Feet 2,” The Eye of the Storm,” “Babe: Pig in the City”), the picture is the tale of a 12 year old boy who tries to escape his dysfunctional, multi-generational Spanish family.
