Yoga as seen within a shamanic society, 15 July 2013
Author: Trollder from Canada

This is a film with some unconventional but accurate albeit satirical depiction of yoga . Here we see the kundalini crisis juxtaposed with the Korean shinbyeong of shamanic initiation illness - a psychosis like the kundalini crisis - through the self-loss of ki, sharing space within an understanding of yoga in modern multi-cultural trans-national society. Film breaks the 4th wall through being instructional within some key dialogue sequences. The influence of beliefs in ki within S.Korea are pervasive. Korean Christians interpret the infilling of the holy spirit as ki energy and korean shamans lead congregations. The cosmology of whom a shaman offers themselves in sacrifice to is oriented towards Chaos, the Nether-World or Other-World similar to the philosophy of cosmicism of H. P. Lovecraft. Sanity crushing cosmic Gods that feed on our souls.

No Joke.

Keenly perceptive take on yoga.

from a very interesting place.
