Halle Berry was cast but dropped out and was replaced by Katherine Heigl. Berry dropped out due to a custody battle with her ex-partner. After the custody was resolved, Berry was recast in the movie, but in another role.
Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer have both played Catwoman in unrelated films. So has Anne Hathaway, who appeared in _Valentine's Day_(2010).
This will be the eighth film in which actor Cary Elwes plays a doctor.
When Kaminsky (Hector Elizondo) arrives, the message over the radio announces "The eagle has landed". This is the same code phrase used by Elizondo in The Princess Diaries, for which it is the codename for Queen Clarice(Julie Andrews).
Lea Michele portrays one of Jon Bon Jovi's back-up singers in this movie, and in fact she unintentionally almost hit him with a car once while she was reversing on Robertson Boulevard in 2010.
When Hilary Swank's character, Claire, hands the duties off to Hector Elizondo's character, Kominsky, she whispers in 'Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges'' ear, "Watch him like a Hawk." In Garry Marshall's earlier film, 'The Princess Diaries (2001)' (in which Elizondo also starred), Julie Andrews' character, Clarice, whispers the same line to Kathleen Marshall's character, Charlotte, during Mia's makeover by Larry Miller's character, Paolo.
Announced as some kind of continuation for Garry Marshall's holiday themed Valentine's Day (2010), the project evolved into a different entity, recasting some of the protagonists in different roles.
Garry Marshall's regular cameos include his daughter, Kathleen Marshall; his sister, Penny Marshall; Hector Elizondo; Larry Miller; and Joel McCrary.
Reese Witherspoon was offered a role but turned it down.
