CBS: Stop Saying That ‘This Is Us’ Is the Biggest New Hit of the Year; ‘Bull’ Is

17 May 2017 6:20 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

No “Bull,” CBS wants you to know that the freshman Michael Weatherly series is actually the No. 1 new show of the year in total viewers, over NBC’s lauded “This Is Us.”

“We congratulate them on their success, but we like winning,” CBS senior exec VP Kelly Kahl said. He also pointed out that even CBS’ “Blue Bloods” has a larger audience than any other drama on the other networks, except “This Is Us.”

The Big Bang Theory” is the “Wayne Gretzky of comedy,” he noted, arguing that no other half-hour comes close in total viewers, which is why they’re big on spinoff entry “Young Sheldon.” The show was recently renewed for two more seasons, a negotiation that Moonves characterized as amicable.

He also said he “hoped” that the show will continue even beyond that. “We’ll do these two years and we’re not going to just lay down, »

Medical drama “Code Black” has been renewed for Season 3 at CBS, Variety has learned.

The series takes place in the fictional Angels Memorial Hospital, where the high number often outnumbered the limited resources available to doctors and patients, creating a situation known in some hospitals as a “code black.”

It stars Marcia Gay Harden, Boris Kodjoe Melanie ChandraHarry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Jillian Murray, William Allen Young, Luis Guzmán, and Rob Lowe. Michael Seitzman, David Marshall Grant, Ryan McGarry, David Von Ancken, Marti Noxon and Linda Goldstein Knowlton serve as executive producers. ABC Television Studios produced in association with CBS Television Studios.

The series has enjoyed decent ratings, but nevertheless ranked as one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted series this season. Season 2 averaged a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 6 million viewers per episode.

CBS previously renewed 18 of their series. The returning shows renewed to date include comedies such as “Big Bang Theory” (for two seasons), “Mom,” and »

The Five Saddest Moments on Blue Bloods Season 7

10 May 2017 5:00 AM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Blue Bloods is one of the best police dramas on TV and that’s thanks mostly to its epic casting. Who doesn’t love Tom Selleck? And, Mark Wahlberg’s hunky real-life brother, Donnie, is not only a member of the hit group “New Kids on the Block” but an amazing actor to boot. In addition, Bridget Moynahan is much too gorgeous to be a prosecutor but she’s all business when it comes to the law. And, Will Estes and Vanessa Ray as police partners are a hot couple even when they’re in uniform. The supporting cast is superb, as well, and the

Why CBS' Madam Secretary Will Fill the West Wing-Shaped Hole in Your Heart

8 May 2017 2:12 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

In college, I used to roll my eyes when my good friend, Courtney, welled up while watching NBC’s critically acclaimed White House drama The West Wing.

“Are you crying because something happened, or are you just crying because of America?” I’d ask sarcastically. I was a casual viewer, and usually hadn’t paid much attention to what President Bartlet and his team were up to on any given week.

“America!” she’d respond, dabbing at her eyes and laughing. I laughed, too, because — even while in the thrall of a brilliantly written, expertly acted TV series — who gets »

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger gets 10-episode order

5 April 2017 11:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Coinciding with the news that Freeform has placed a straight-to-series order for Marvel’s New Warriors, we now have word from Disney Media Distribution general manager Mark Endemano that the network’s other Marvel project Cloak & Dagger also has a ten-episode order.

“Cloak & Dagger is about character and emotion above all. It tells of a romance between Tandy and Tyrone in a way that we haven’t really seen before in a Marvel TV series,” said Endemano (via Mip). “So think Romeo and Juliet though I can tell you that they won’t be dying at the end of the first episode!”

13 Reasons Why: Where You May Have Seen Tony (Besides Law & Order)

13 Reasons Why has captured our attention for a number of reasons - the gripping story, the unflinching approach to teen suicide, the dramatic twists - but none of it would be as successful if it wasn't for the talented young cast. One of the standout performances comes from Christian Navarro, who plays the wise, leather-jacket-clad Tony. Navarro has made guest appearances on a number of TV dramas like Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Blue Bloods, The Affair, and Rosewood, but he's only had one recurring role before breaking out on 13 Reasons Why. He played Jorge in the Martin Scorsese's one-season HBO series Vinyl. Here he is in character: There you have it! Now, find out why Justin and Jeff look so familiar. »
