Canada vs The USA

Live from Halifax, Nova Scotia

Vader (W/Paul Bearer) Vs Ken Shamrock

Vader wins by countout after The British Bulldog powerslams Shamrock on the steel ramp. Shamrock was unbeaten at the time and this was a rather weak way to end it, but it gave The Bulldog some needed momentum. The match was mediocre.

We get a vignette for Brakkus. Let's just say his career didn't pan out very well.

The Hart Foundation are out next.

Bret Hart says it's good to be back in Canada. He says they like to spit and throw stuff at you in the USA. He says the USA is shaped like a big giant toilet bowl because most Americans are full of crap. A loud "US sucks" chant breaks out. He challenges The Undertaker to a match later in the night. The British Bulldog and Owen Hart issue challenges to Ken Shamrock and Steve Austin as well. Steve Austin comes out and interrupts. Austin says Halifax is a living hell. He says he'll be apart of the six man tag team flag match later tonight.

Brian Christopher Vs Bryan Walsh

Christopher wins in a surprisingly competitive match. I expected this to be a total squash, but I got more than I bargained for.

We get a look at the origins of Dude Love. They show his debut as Steve Austin's tag team partner on Raw a week before this one.

The Godwinns Vs The New Blackjacks Vs The Headbangers

The Godwinns win. This was a clusterf****. It was hard to follow and boring as well. The only team I gave a damn about was The Headbangers.

Shawn Michaels gets booed out of the building. Shawn salutes the American flag and gives the 'suck' it chop as well. Shawn Michaels says Canada is very unappreciative of the USA. He insults the Canadian fans to huge heat. Oh man, the crowd is being absolutely nasty to Shawn, chanting derogatory things. I'm a proud Canadian, but Shawn is handling this in a very entertaining way. Shawn says he's joining Steve Austin in the Flag Match later tonight on team USA. He says he pleaded with Vince McMahon to be a part of Summerslam. He says he only works the main event. He announces he's the guest referee in the match between Bret Hart and The Undertaker at Summerslam. He says if he doesn't call the match down the middle, he'll never be able to wrestle in the USA again. He says he'll have to wrestle in Canada every day for the rest of his life. He says he may buy a house next to Bret's. Rarely will you EVER see somebody get that many boo's.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley (W/Chyna) Vs The Patriot

The match ends in a DQ. Bret Hart comes out and gets into it with Vince McMahon. A near-fight almost happens between Bret and Vince. The Hart Foundation attacks The Patriot as well. This was very intense. I won't spoil everything, but it was awesome.

Paul Bearer says he has proof that Kane is still alive. He says when Kane and The Undertaker were younger, they shared a sacred statue. They each shared half of it. Paul Bearer reveals Kane's part of the statue.

Farooq (W/Kama Mustafa) Vs Goldust (W/Marlena)

Goldust wins by DQ. This match was here to fill time until the big main event.

Shawn Michaels is attacked by The Hart Foundation backstage. He can't compete in the flag match later tonight.

Flag Match

Bret Hart, Owen Hart & The British Bulldog Vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, The Undertaker & Dude Love

The Hart Foundation wins after Brian Pillman costs Team USA the match. This was a fun main-event. The crowd atmosphere was electric. It's weird seeing Austin & The Undertaker get booed, but it made for some fun times. Canada vs The USA really is a hell of a rivalry.

***1/4 out of 5

This is an excellent episode of Raw. Canada vs The USA is featured very strongly here and it's very intense. The crowd was amazing and hot all night long and the entire show was a blast. Highly recommended
