Musty is standing around in a state of confusion, so his fairy godfather appears to find him a job as a general factotum at an amusement gallery. Musty serves as a bootblack, a ticket-taker, a target at the shooting gallery and a rope to block off a non-working escalator.
This is a fairly mild Musty Suffer; no one actually shoots him. Neither is there much in the way of camera tricks. Instead, the humor comes from the offhand threat of violence in a world that never quite works right. Musty's world was dirty, disgusting and very funny, half Tex Avery cartoon and half Crockett Johnson comic strip, all borne with an uncomprehending stoicism. It may take a while to get used to it, but this, while not as funny as some, is a good entry point.
