Lust at First Bite
Scarecrow-8816 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Fred Olen Ray is at it again, yet another softcore spoof of the horror genre, emphasis almost completely on sex, specifically bo-hunk Frankie Cullen getting laid frequently. He plays a easily duped dolt named Jack who isn't able to notice that his live-in girlfriend (Beverly Lynne, who seems to be having sex with only chicks in movies these days, for which I don't necessarily mind, although she seems to perform more lively with men) is a lesbian. She takes him for his money, eventually leaving him. The luscious Brandin Rackley is the lead starlet of "Lust at First Bite", as Tabitha, who runs a strip joint; actually the place is a den of vampires, the dancers bloodsuckers who prey on the male clientèle. The delicious Christine Nguyen (a frequent collaborator for Fred Olen Ray, along with the aforementioned Lynne) is one of Tabitha's girls, Angela. Tabitha falls for Jack, the two hitting it off really well from the onset. Billy Chappell (who has been in many softcore spoofs such as the Busty Cop movies and other stuff for FOR) is Roger, a fellow employee at the firm Jack works, a victim at the hands of Angela not longer after a hook-up. Ted Newsom is Detective Simpson, a cop who believes Jack is responsible for Roger's death. Jack tries to convince Simpson that the strip club houses a coven of vampires, but the truth falls on deaf ears. Again, "Lust at First Bite" is just another softcore flick allowing Cullen to screw as many of the female cast as time permits, the occasional lesbian lovemaking scene and Chappell getting a little action with Nguyen interfering slightly. Plenty of hot women serve as diversions away from the absence of real laughs or plot. Rackley is a babe I think owns the screen because of her energy whether it be stripping or performing for Cullen, she shows passion and joy during her simulated sex scenes, something that catches my attention. Nguyen is always easy on the eyes, and pretty much shares screen time with Rackley, although she has performed sex scenes with Cullen in the past, to the point that they are repetitive and offer a same-old, same-old effect. There is no blood-letting although a couple chicks bear fangs after receiving the bang from their male victims.

Semi-enjoyable and tolerable erotic horror effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder7 August 2013
After realizing his wife is cheating on him, a man's attempts at solace find him in a nightclub populated by vampires luring unsuspecting victims like himself, and must stop them before they continue their rampage.

As far as erotic horror films go, this one isn't too terrible and really has a lot of key elements going for it. The fact that there's a wide range of acts being performed, from strip-teases to solo scenes, lesbian encounters and even a three-way late in the movie, it really provides the skin quotient needed in these types of movies and does them really well, as a lesbian shower sequence and the three-way stand out quite effectively. Plus, with a super-simplistic story-line designed to give that exact same effect, it doesn't help either in generating this type of story and manages to essentially keep the sleaze front and center while also attempting something close to a coherent, feasible movie which is to be commended, even though several factors like the cheating wife and the investigation into her activities are nothing more than fodder for such actions and aren't that believable. Overall, it's got enough going for it that it's quite enjoyable as one of these kinds of films, even though it really only works as a horror film for the last few minutes and it's not that good at it when it gets there, but for those that enjoy the skin-favored efforts it's certainly worthwhile.

Rated Unrated/NC-17: Continuous Full Nudity, multiple sex scenes of varying intensity, Graphic Language and Mild Violence.

Lust at First Bite
stalking-divinity17 March 2011
Twilight Vamps/Lust at First Bite is a typical Retromedia softcore, with a mostly familiar cast and decent production values for the genre. Out of the four Retromedia movies of the year it came out in, I think it was the weakest, but still quite good.

The storyline involving Beverly Lynne didn't seem to go anywhere at all other than as a slight gag. This isn't a big deal considering nobody watches this type of movie for the plot, but generally this production company tends to have more coherent story lines so it felt a little odd.

It was great to see Christine Nguyen in a villain role for a change, her hateful little laugh was the perfect mix of adorable, sexy, and evil. Once again I think her scene with Frankie Cullen stole the show, but her scene with Tony Marino was good as well.

Brandin Rackley is, hands down, the best actress in these movies currently. She may get a little goofy sometimes with the accents, but she actually has a significant range. Also, I normally tend to like the much bustier girls, and while there weren't any really big chested ones in this movie, Brandin was filling out her bustier exceptionally well.

Beverly Lynne's role seemed a little random and extraneous, but she did a fine job with it.

Frankie Cullen had several quite funny lines, especially towards the end, and Tony Marino's wobblers line was pretty funny as well. I especially liked the expired holy water bit.

As usual, the hardcore girls were more throwaway eye candy than anything. There are a couple of hardcore girls that can act very well, but the ones this time didn't have enough of a role to really show if they could or not.

Funny But Not Best Brandin
jmatrixrenegade5 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of many Fred Olen Ray take-offs and unlike another review noted, it has various regulars including the main guy who here looks like prime gay porn material -- guy is working at the gym! My main reason for checking it out is that I saw past efforts, particularly enjoying Brandin Rackley. I was a bit disappointed by her performance here -- didn't see that much of her and what we see is a bit pedestrian (still hot; only a bit of her playful voice work here). I also enjoyed a film like Devil Wears Nada better for some of the sex scenes. The scene with the woman from Coed Confidential (Michelle Maylene -- some sort of crossover? lol) was a bit quick, for instance.

It still is well worth watching, especially for soft porn. The open credits are great -- very creative. Love the "inspired by a poem by Edgar Allen Poe" bit. Any soft porn movie with a plot that fairly holds your interest and has serious comedy chops on at least three or four occasions is worth a nod. Still, a bit disappointed. The somewhat slow beginning is part of it, a pretty bland sex bit.

There is a lot to like though. Beverly Lynne, who I like along with Rackley because she actually has some personality and isn't just like a walking silicone experiment, is great here. Her bitchy cheating lesbian girlfriend is quite amusing. Christine Nguyen, who in a couple other films I felt was pretty bland, has more personality here too. I realize some just want nudity but really, a bit of personality doesn't hurt in that department. And, these films also benefit from a bit of acting chops. As another review notes, she shows improvement.

The third vampire provides good support. Frankie Cullen is particularly good here too. The detective provides amusing comedy relief.
