It is harvest time at Lark Rise and all the families are working in the fields. However, a measles epidemic sweeps through the county and as the mothers must stay at home to look after the sick children, the harvest is in danger of being so delayed that it cannot be saved. Daniel, come to tell Laura that he is leaving to work in Cambridge, deliberately gives up his new job to stay on and organize isolation and to rally the people of Candleford to come to Lark Rise to act as field workers and nurses.- Written by don @ minifie-1
It's harvest time and everyone in Lark Rise will participate. Alf is king of the harvest for the first time and even Dorcas and young Sydney decide to help out. The harvest is important not only for the farmer but also for the workers as they forage what's left behind for their own supply of flour to carry them through the winter. There's a crisis on the horizon when the children contract the measles. Not only are there lives in danger but with the women unable to gather some of the wheat, they face a winter of little or no bread. Daniel returns unexpectedly to Candleford with news for Laura but also with news of a similar epidemic in Oxford.- Written by garykmcd
