20 Lessons Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion Taught Us About Friendship, Feminism and Fashion, 20 Years Later
Twenty years ago today, a little movie called Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion premiered to mixed reviews. Many compartmentalized it as a silly comedy starring “that chick from Friends as Michelle” and “the other one who went on to star in American Pie, oh wait, that’s Mena Suvari.”

Agents of Shield, Ep. 2.16, “Afterlife”: The Dead Live Again

Agents of Shield, Season 2, Episode 16: “Afterlife”

Written by Craig Titley

Directed by Kevin Hooks

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on ABC

After Bobbi and Gonzalez’s big hero moment and Skye’s escape in “One Door Closes”, “Afterlife” is set up to be a bit of a let-down, or at least a slowdown by comparison. There are plenty of good hero moments, like the return of Deathlok, and Fitz-Simmons pulling the wool over Bobbi’s eyes. Even with these moments, the episode’s focus on Skye slows everything down to introduce Afterlife and fit in lots of exposition from Lincoln, played by guest star Luke Mitchell (The Tomorrow People).

It is difficult to gauge Mitchell’s performance as Lincoln based only on “Afterlife”, because as Skye’s guide in this world, most of his dialogue is exposition. The large majority of his scenes with Skye are just Skye walking

Suits Summer Finale Preview: Gina Torres on a "United" Firm, Loving Louis and More

  • TVfanatic
It's been a thrilling third season of Suits, with romantic pairings (Mike and Rachel), feline love (Louis and Nigel's beloved Mikado) and plenty of infighting at the firm (including Harvey taking steps to betray Jessica before realizing what a mistake that would be) captivating viewers on a weekly basis.

In last week's Notebook, Gina Torres responded to my asking whether Jessica really trusts Harvey as we move into tonight's summer finale.

And here in the remainder of our chat, the statuesque actress talks about what she loved about the recent flashback episode, adoring Louis Litt and Jessica's flawless wardrobe and what she thinks her character wears at home...

TV Fanatic: At the end of the last episode, we found out that Ava is now suing the firm. What is that going to do in the finale?

While the actors who portray our favorite characters get the majority of fan adoration, more and more, writers and show runners are rightfully getting their place in the spotlight. Sure, Ali Liebert brings Betty’s swagger on Bomb Girls, but writers dream up the lines that cut through us like a warm knife through maple butter. Paige McCullers would be just a footnote — a field hockey penalty — if Pretty Little Liars’ show runner hadn’t seen her potential and gone with her gut. So here’s to the writers who inspire us, and the women and men who run the show. (Thank you to all of you who tweeted me your favorites.)
