Schwarzenegger Sent By Heaven?

30 December 2011 9:30 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

A while back came the word that Arnold Schwarzenegger's first post-"Expendables 2" project would be a stripped down action thriller called "Black Sands". Turns out it won't be as stripped down as we thought.

The previous report had Arnie playing a loner who wages war against a ruthless weapons manufacturer and his private army in the American Southwest.

Now called "Black Sunday", the film is being described as a cross between "Commando and Constantine". Schwarzenegger tells The Arnold Fans that "I’m a kind of angel. I cannot currently say more about this film.”

Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy ("Act Of Valor") are directing from a script by Sergio Altieri and Kevin Elders which Skip Woods ("A Good Day To Die Hard") performed re-writes on. Filming begins in April. »

Arnold Schwarzenegger Actioner 'Black Sands' Becomes Supernatural-Tinged 'Black Sunday'

29 December 2011 8:27 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

It all seemed too predictable: Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to his bread and butter with some cold hard violent justice. Following his small role in "The Expendables 2" and the lead in modern western "The Last Stand," the hulking legend was set to star in "Black Sands." From Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy, the directors of upcoming Navy Seals recruitment film actioner "Act Of Valor," the script, from Skip Woods ("The A-Team," "Hitman")  was being described as a cross between "Man On Fire" and "High Plains Drifter." And yet, suddenly, Arnie has flipped the script on all of us and gone into "End Of Days" mode. Now the project is known as "Black Sunday," with Arnold saying he's playing some sort of immortal. "I'm a kind of angel," he tells TheArnoldFans fansite. "I can not currently say more about this film." The project is now being called a cross »

See real Navy Seals in this new Act of Valor trailer

11 November 2011 9:30 AM, PST | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Act Of Valor has a gimmick and it's a good one- there are real Navy SEALs in this action film. Stars Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nester Serrano are actors but for the most part all the soldiers in this movie are actual active duty Navy SEALs. This is supposed to lend it a feel of realism but to be honest it looks like every other war movie out there, if the trailer is any indication. The film began as a recruiment video that they decided to turn into a feature length film, »

This Means War movie trailer in HD. Drool material for girls or a solid actioner?

16 October 2011 7:30 AM, PDT | Upcoming-Movies.com | See recent Upcoming-Movies.com news »

Trailer for This Means War, starring Tom Hardy, Chris Pine in High Definition Personally, I think this has potential with Pine, Hardy and Reese Witherspoon on board. Still, the cheese factor remains and its risky business, despite having Bane and Kirk in the lead...and that blonde who hates Christmas. Let's not forget McG's got the director's reigns; a helmer of the appallingly bad Charlie's Angels flicks as well as Terminator Salvation. With a February 17th, 2012 release date, Fox goes up against Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance as well as Relativity Media's Act of Valor Navy Seal pic, so they'd better have their guns blazing. »

Act Of Valor Trailer Released!

13 October 2011 9:08 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Directors Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh present a film based on an actual Navy Seals mission. Act Of Valor will star Roselyn Sanchez, Emilio Rivera and Nestor Serrano. It is taken from a script penned by Kirk Johnstad.

The film tells the gripping tale of an elite squad of Navy Seals as they embark on a convert mission to track down the whereabouts of CIA agent and save him.

The film looks interesting in so much that it brags it will tell a fairly accurate tale of the tactics and weapons used by the Navy Seals. Of course it will be dramatised with over the top explosions but it has the potential to give a moderately accurate insight into how the Seals might carry out a mission of this nature. Other interesting selling points like the fact the film is portrayed by active U.S Navy Seals also make for an interesting watch. »

Act Of Valor (2011) Movie Trailer: Mike McCoy, Scott Waugh

Act of Valor Trailer. Mike McCoy, Scott Waugh‘s Act of Valor (2011) movie trailer stars Roselyn Sanchez, Emilio Rivera, Nestor Serrano, Gonzalo Menendez, and Alex Veadov. Act of Valor‘s plot synopsis: “Act of Valor follows a Navy Seal squad on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent, and in the process takes down a complex web of terrorist cells determined to strike America at all costs.”

Looks cool but I think I got more out of Surviving the Cut than I will out of Act of Valor. The film looks good though. Some have described this as a propaganda film where I see it as a celebration of the heroism of elite soldiers. I believe both arguments are accurate.

Regarding how the film is described:

a hybrid feature film based on the Seal ethos that highlights both naval special warfare capability and fleet interaction.
