[In case you've Forgotten, and as I will continue to mention each and every one of these posts that I do: This is *not* a review. Pilots change. Sometimes a lot. Often for the better. Sometimes for the worse. But they change. Actual reviews will be coming in September and perhaps October (and maybe midseason in some cases). This is, however, a brief gut reaction to not-for-air pilots. I know some people will be all "These are reviews." If you've read me, you've read my reviews and you know this isn't what they look like.] Show: "Scorpion" (CBS) The Pitch: "It's 'The Big Bang Theory' only they solve problems and Kat McPhee is Penny." Quick Response: The pilot for "Scorpion" is pretty goofy and, for a show about geniuses, mighty stoooooopid, but it's not unamusing, so I can't ignore that "The Big Bang Theory" is one of the 10 worst pilots I've ever seen, but it eventually became a reasonably decent series. It's just hard to introduce smart characters and do it in a way that doesn't come across as over-reliant on big-brain stereotypes and "Scorpion" most certainly doesn't avoid that trap. You could almost say that creator Nick Santora doesn't care. The pilot is about showing how this core group of geniuses could be used to help Homeland Security (represented here by the reliable Robert Patrick) solve a variety of problems on a weekly basis. It isn't about generating human characteristics or human characters for the core group. »

Olivia “Liv” Moore was a medical resident before she became a zombie, and she intends to continue working with human bodies at the coroner’s office… only now she’ll be eating them, too. Liv soon discovers that by eating the brains of murder victims, she can help solve homicide cases, bringing a whole new meaning to her living dead life. This is the start of iZombie, a new series that will air later this year, and The CW has shared a new poster that showcases three core characters.
The poster features Liv (Rose McIver) appropriately seated amongst jars of human organs in the coroner’s office. In the background on the left is Liv’s boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli), and on the right is homicide detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin).
For those unfamiliar with iZombie, which is based on a popular DC comic book series, here is »

The CW announced its fall schedule today and we've got word on when you can catch all your favorite genre television featured on the channel.
New shows "The Messengers" and "iZombie" won't debut until mid-season, 2015.
The Messengers" (CBS Television Studios and Thunder Road)
In the white-hot sun of the New Mexico desert, scientist Vera Ivanov watches in fascination as a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash, sending out a shock wave that briefly stops her heart. But Vera is not the only one affected by the blast: she is instantly and mysteriously connected to four other strangers, who also collapse only »

Olivia “Liv” Moore recently joined the ranks of the living dead, but she plans to stay “normal” by taking a job at the coroner’s office, so she can secretly satisfy her craving for human brains. This is the start of iZombie, a new series that will air later this year, and The CW has shared the first two photos, along with new details.
“Olivia “Liv” Moore was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible. Her appearance now passes for “Goth,” with shockingly pale skin and nearly white hair, and her demeanor has gone from exuberant to exhausted.
The change in Liv is baffling to her mother, her former fiancé, »

The CW’s new fall schedule is here. You’ll notice it looks a lot like the current one. Most shows are staying where they are, with some exceptions to accommodate new titles and a couple returning favorites getting pushed to midseason.
The first big addition is The Flash, starring Grant Gustin as the fastest man alive, which will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. The Arrow spin-off will lead into the 10th season of Supernatural. The Flash is taking the spot of The Originals, which is shifting to Monday nights (an evening where its repeats have already gotten some exposure). On Mondays, »

Thankfully, The CW has released some series poster art to go along with their new shows The Flash and iZombie. It's a nice break from all the cancellations and renewals. The Flash - The DC's speedy superhero series stars Grant Gustin (Glee), Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order), Danielle Panabaker (Shark), Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries), Candice Patton (The Game), Tom Cavanagh (Ed), John Wesley Shipp (the 90s The Flash), Carlos Valdes, guest star Patrick Sabongui, and recurring star Michelle Harrison (Emily Owens, MD). iZombie - DC's Vertigo comic adaptation executive produced by Rob Thomas stars David Anders (Once Upon a Time), Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill), Rose McIver (Once Upon a Time), Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings), Alexandra Krosney (Last Man Standing), Nora Dunn (Entourage), and Rahul Kohli. As an attention-grabbing opening installment for what’s obviously intended as an ongoing horror franchise, “Jinn” fizzles. This ponderously paced, needlessly convoluted and altogether unexceptional thriller will be fortunate to reach beyond a thin sliver of undiscriminating genre fans with its bogus mythos about ancient evil spirits bent on world domination. The promise of a sequel during the closing credits seems, at best, unduly optimistic.
After a less-than-promising prologue in 1901 India, writer-director Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad moves his melodrama to contemporary Ann Arbor, Mich., where Shawn (Dominic Rains), a hunky auto designer, and Jasmine (Serinda Swan of TV’s “Graceland” and “Breakout Kings”), his beautiful wife, are unsettled by manifestations of, if not the supernatural, then extremely clumsy home invaders.
The secret behind the scattering of their furniture is revealed when the designer receives a decades-old message — so old, it’s on a VHS tape, not a DVD or flash drive — from his late father. »

The Arsenio Hall Show has been renewed for a second season.
Justin Hartley has joined the cast of the ABC comedy pilot Damaged Goods. The pilot, from Awkward. creator Lauren Iungerich, is a relationship comedy about two damaged men and two damaged women with Hartley playing a man who can’t handle his girlfriend getting the promotion he was pursuing. I think I prefer to see him playing a guy who is dating an tech billionaire with a vengeful pal.
In a sadly unsurprising development, the Biography channel is revamping into Fyi Network, which will feature upscale lifestyle programming.
Empire, the hip-hop drama pilot from Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, added to its cast Person of Interest alum Taraji P. Henson. She’ll play the wife of the drama’s music mogul, a woman who has done prison time for selling drugs to keep her husband’s music label »

(Cbr) Three actors have been added to The CW's "iZombie" pilot, as reported Tuesday by Deadline: Malcolm Goodwin, Alexandra Krosney and David Anders. Goodwin, best known for his role on A&E's "Breakout Kings," will play "co-lead" Clive, a police detective and main character Liv's boss. Krosney, who appeared on a 2009 episode of "Lost," has been cast as Peyton, Liv's best friend and roommate. Anders, best known for his roles in "Alias," "Heroes," "Once Upon a Time" and a one-episode appearance in "Arrow," will play show villain Blaine, described by Deadline as "an entitled rich kid who bites off more than he can chew in the drug business." These are the first cast announcements for the Vertigo adaptation, in contention for a spot on The CW's 2014-2015 schedule. Notably, none of these character names -- including lead character Liz, who was named Gwendolyn Price in the comic -- are from the source material, »

With the likes of The Flash, Gotham and Constantine gearing up to go into production on their respective pilots, it seems there's not a day goes by without some DC television casting, and now it's the turn of the Vertigo imprint adaptation iZombie with Deadline revealing that Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings), Alexandra Krosney (Last Man Standing) and David Anders (Alias) have signed on to The CW pilot. Here's the site's description of the potential series:
"iZombie is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on Liv, a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective (Goodwin), she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head. »

The cast is rapidly coming together for The CW's new drama pilot, "iZombie," from "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas. The show has added "Vampire Diaries" and "Alias" alum David Anders, "Breakout Kings" star Malcolm Goodwin, and former "Last Man Standing" regular Alexandra Krosney to the show's pilot.
"iZombie" follows a med student-turned-zombie named Liv, who takes a job in the coroner's office so she has easy access to the brains she needs to eat to maintain her humanity. A side effect to her diet are the memories she inherits from each brain she consumes, so she teams up with the medical examiner and a police detective to solve homicide cases and quiet the voices in her head.
Goodwin will play Clive, a detective whose less-than-stellar first two months on the homicide squad inspire him to team up with Liv despite his misgivings about her "psychic" powers. Krosney will play Peyton, »
