Grey’s Anatomy star Jason George has joined the cast of the Grey’s firefighter-focused spinoff as a series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter. George will continue to be a series regular on the upcoming Season 14 of Grey’s — debuting Thursday, Sept. 28 at 8/7c on ABC — until the untitled spinoff begins production; he’s also expected to pop back into Grey’s from time to time.

Shonda Rhimes Inks Deal to Bring Shondaland to Netflix

Shonda Rhimes, the mastermind behind hit TV dramas like Scandal, Grey's Anatomy and How to Get Away With Murder, will make the jump from broadcast TV to streaming after inking a multi-year deal with Netflix.

The industry-shaking partnership, announced Sunday night, will see Rhimes bringing her powerhouse production company Shondaland to Netflix, where Rhimes and producing partner Betsy Beers will oversee a new series and other projects. Netflix did not disclose financial terms of the deal.

Actor Caroline Dhavernas began her career in French-Canadian television, with roles that probably played big in Quebec but not many other places. After starring in some notworthy indie dramas like Edge Of Madness, however, she finally gained wider recognition on Bryan Fuller’s charming and addictive Wonderfalls, a short-lived delight of a series that almost no one saw when it was on but has found an afterlife as a cult hit. From there, she’s gone on to an impressive career, toggling comfortably between film and TV in projects like Hollywoodland, Breach, Off The Map, and most notably spending three seasons on NBC’s superlative Hannibal.
