Emily Bergl is joining the cast of “American Crime” for Season 2. The “Shameless” star will have a recurring role on the ABC anthology crime drama when it returns in 2016, joining previously announced newcomers Joey Pollari, Stephanie Sigman, Andre Benjamin and Hope Davis. She will play Lillah Tanner, the mother of Pollari’s character Eric. ‘American Crime’ Season 2 Adds ‘Shameless’ Star Emily Bergl

American Crime” is continuing to build out the cast for its second season, adding “Shameless” star Emily Bergl as a recurring character.

Season two of the ABC show will revolve around a crime set in the high school basketball world when a student accuses several players on a championship team of sexually assaulting him, and then taking photos and posting them online.

The storyline will allow the creative team to explore issues of social economics, education, as well as sexual orientation, Ridley told Variety.

Bergl will play Lillah Tanner, the mother of Eric Lupton (played by Joey Pollari), a basketball player from a working class family who’s attending school on a scholarship. Lillah’s family becomes embroiled in the fallout of alleged sexual assault.

Last year, we saw the debut of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, which brought the Tarantino-penned/Robert Rodriguez-directed film to the small screen, in a very different approach. It was quite the interesting series, taking turns that were very unexpected and different than the film, which set the TV series on its own path. Now with the August 25th premiere of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Season Two set to make its debut, Austin TX mayor Steve Adler has made August 25th “From Dusk Till Dawn Day”, in a celebration held at Troublemaker studios.

Chicago Med is in need of a new boss, Stat.

Showrunner Andrew Dettmann is exiting the Chicago Fire spinoff before it ramps up production, TVLine has confirmed.

Dettmann, who took the reins at Chicago Med in June, is departing due to creative differences. A replacement has not yet been named, but the NBC series has a robust group of executive producers, including Chicago Fire/Pd showrunner Matt Olmstead.

Showtime has cast actor Chris Brochu in the sixth season of “Shameless,” TheWrap learned on Saturday.
