Is it funny? If you think it is funny then maybe it is

I first watched this movie in 2015 but held back on writing a review because the movie really did not hold my attention. Here I am four years later and I just watched Chia Ling's first four movies. The score was one average, two very good, and one stinker. Skip to the end of this review to see how I rated this movie after a second view.

My copy is a digital file that plays on a HDTV as wide screen with English subtitles. It is not a true wide screen as the subtitles are chopped off on the right and left. I believe the version by Jamal is true wide screen.

The movie starts with Barry Chan falling into goose droppings and splitting his pants. Chia mends them and they get caught between two groups of gangsters. They escape through a haunted house then into a traveling acrobat show. They join the performers. The gangsters continue to go after them all the way to the final fight. The movie does drag a bit in the middle but the final fight is action filled. All the fights, first to last, are comedy martial arts.

This movie is an early martial arts comedy. Jackie Chan mastered this genre in the 1980s. However, if you like Jackie's movies, that does not correlate to liking this one. Comedy is very subjective so I always tread lightly when rating a comedy. I give it the benefit of the doubt and rate it average for the year and genre but I did not like it enough to recommend it. Finishing my review I doubt I will ever watch it again.
