27 August 2011 1:15 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Ratings are in for two upcoming horror flicks that are headed our way, and we have the skinny on how they fared in front of the MPAA! Read on for details.

Apollo 18 (release date: September 2nd, 2011) has been rated PG-13 for "disturbing images and language."

Synopsis:

Officially, Apollo 17 — launched December 17th, 1972 — was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the Us Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage that the astronauts captured on that mission. While Nasa denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.

The House at the End of the Street (release date: April 20th, 2012) has been rated PG-13 for "intense sequences of violence and terror, thematic elements, language, some »

Exclusive: Wme has signed Mark Tonderai, who directed House At The End Of The Street, the romantic thriller that stars Jennifer Lawrence, Max Theriot and Elisabeth Shue and just got picked up for 2012 release by Relativity Media. The film is Tonderai's follow-up to his directing debut Hush, which created buzz in the UK, was nominated for a British Independent Film Award, and made the courtship of the director a competitive one among Hollywood agencies. Wme will rep him for film and TV. Hush was acquired for U.S. distribution by IFC. Tonderai has started Shona Films with partner Zoe Stewart, and they are developing several projects including an adaptation of the Roger Smith book Wake Up Dead, and they are also working on The Kill Team, a drama about the attempted siege of Sierra Leone in 2002. X-Men: First Class star Jennifer Lawrence beats Catwoman actress Anne Hathaway in 2011 hotlist

6 July 2011 11:03 AM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

It's official. Jennifer Lawrence is a first class actress.

The 20-year-old, who plays the young version of Mystique (above) in X-Men: First Class, beat the likes of Anne Hathaway and Britain's Carey Mulligan to be named the Top Actress Under 30 of the past year, despite being the second youngest on the list.

Lawrence led the annual league table of the hottest female talent ln Hollywood, compiled by subscription service LOVEFiLM and based on a combination of momentum and critical and commercial success.

With indie and mainstream success under her belt, including an Oscar-nominated performance in Winter's Bone, Jennifer Lawrence - a new entry in the list this year - has taken the lead.

She will next be seen in The House At The End Of The Street, and in 2012 in The Hunger Games - an adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel that's been touted by some as the next Twilight saga. »

Tons of New Release Dates from Oscar Contenders to 'Scary Movie 5' and 'Despicable Me 2'

17 June 2011 4:15 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Over at Box Office Mojo an onslaught of upcoming films just earned release dates, primarily films from the Weinstein Co. and Universal. Instead of sorting through paragraphs giving you an update on each I decided to just create mini previews of each film below with what is known so far and what films they will be opening up against.

If you don't see a director or a cast listing that's because they haven't been announced yet. So have a look through and see what interests you. The date I found most interesting was the log jam of films opening on November 23 where you have Martin Scorsese's Hugo Cabret, the Muppets movie, the 3D Piranha sequel, the animated feature Arthur Christmas and now the Weinstein Co. throws the Cannes Film Festival silent film standout The Artist into the mix. Going to be a wild Thanksgiving weekend.

Key Players in the 2011 Cannes Market: Filmnation Ent.

In a very short amount of time, NYC/La based Filmnation Ent. have padded themselves a hell of a slate including Terrence Malick's forthcoming film (not The Tree of Life...the other one - see pic above) John Hillcoat's Wettest County and in this year's Cannes they have the excellent Take Shelter (in my top 2 from Sundance) and Pedro Almodovar's huge Main Comp buzz title. Horror fans waiting for a release date on the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence thriller House at the End of the Street got their wish yesterday when Relativity Media confirmed that the thriller would open February 2012. According to Cinema Blend, choosing February 2012 appeared to be a great move by Relativity since Lawrence would appear in theaters the very next month as the star of The Hunger Games and would be receiving plenty of media attention at that time. In director Mark Tonderai’s horror, a mother and daughter move next door to a house with a terrifying history. Lawrence starred alongside Elisabeth Shue and Max Theriot. »

Elizabeth Shue And Jennifer Lawrence Horror Flick House At The End Of The Street Coming In February

23 April 2011 10:48 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

All has been quiet for nearly a year on Relativity's horror flick The House At The End Of The Street, but during that period of media silence, director Mark Tonderai completed photography and is now putting the finishing touches on his movie in preparation for a February, 2012 release. Ordinarily, February is a burial ground for failed efforts studios want to release against weaker competition, but the informal rules regarding horror movie release dates are entirely different. Apart from Halloween which always features a couple of screamers, the rest of the year is inconsistently littered with the remaining offerings in no discernable order. The House At The End Of The Street could be great, or it could be terrible. Its release in February in no way alters my expectations, which actually, are quite high. Not to be confused with Last House On The Left or its highly watchable remake, The House »

Jennifer Lawrence, who is set to follow up her Oscar-nominated turn in Winter’s Bone with 2011 appearances in Jodie Foster‘s The Beaver and Matthew Vaughn‘s X-Men: First Class, will also soon be appearing in House at the End of the Street — a low-scale horror-thriller directed by Mark Tonderai — that has just received an official release date of February 3rd, 2012. Scripted by Eduardo Gordon and David Loucka, House at the End of the Street will also feature Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas and, more recently, Piranha 3D), Max Thieriot, Gil Bellows, and Jonathan Malen. The film’s synopsis is described as follows:

Latest 'It' Girl Jennifer Lawrence is in another movie.  She will be starring in the thriller House at the End of the Street along side of Elisabeth Shue and Max Thieriot.  Produced by Relativity Media, the film is about a teenage girl (Lawrence) who moves to a new town with her mother (Shue).  The trouble starts when the girl learns that they live next door to a house with some history- specifically a double murder at the hand of a young girl.  She decides to befriend the dead's surviving son (Thieriot).  The film was directed by Mark Tonderai- who's most recent directorial project was something called Hush (which I've never heard of)- and written by David Loucka.

House At The End Of The Street Starring Jennifer Lawrence Set for February 3, 2012

22 April 2011 12:18 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Relativity Media has set Mark Tonderai's thriller House at the End of the Street for February 3, 2012.  The film stars Jennifer Lawrence as a teenager who moves into a new home with her mother (Elisabeth Shue), but then discovers that their home is next door to the site of a double murder. She makes friends with the massacre's sole survivor (Max Thieriot). If it turns out he was the person responsible for the double murder, I'll be very disappointed. The only other film currently set for release on February 3, 2012 is Fox's superhero drama Chronicle starring Dane DeHaan.  Presumably, the film will try to build off all the publicity Lawrence will be receiving in the lead-up to her starring role in The Hunger Games, which opens less than two months later. [Update: We've added the press release from Relativity after the jump.] Here's the press release along with another image of Jennifer Lawrence being all attractive and stuff.
