Will July bring triple cheer to a downbeat Bollywood? - News

29 June 2010 11:44 PM, PDT | GlamSham | See recent GlamSham news »

The first half of 2010 has officially come to an end and the report card shows that it has been one of the worse six months ever for the industry. With Raajneeti being the only superhit (still counting) and just two other clear hits (based or worldwide run) in My Name Is Khan and Housefull, stats speak loud and clear. Agreed that there have been other successful films like Badmaash Company, Ishqiya, Love Sex Aur Dhoka and Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? but the profits accruing to the »

June 7, 2010: Most Bollywood actors belong to a certain genre. While they might dabble in other types of cinema, they prefer their comfort zone. However actor Ajay Devgan has turned versatility into an art. The star, whose career spans almost two decades, has experimented with a wide variety of roles. He was mostly seen in intense drama or action flicks but has turned to comedy off-late.

His comic act in recent films like Golmaal, All the Best and Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge have fetched him accolades. The national award winner also donned the role of the director and producer in the recent past. He has experimented. »

Ajay Devgan all set to experiment a different look!

1 June 2010 12:42 PM, PDT | Filmicafe | See recent Filmicafe news »

After the comedy Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge earlier this year, Ajay Devgn has another film lined up, Raajneeti, an intense political drama. With four more releases to come this year - Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Aakrosh, Toonpur Ka Superhero and Golmaal 3 - he.s clearly looking to experiment as much with genre as his look.Says Ajay, .Yes, I have different looks in all the releases this year, but it.s not something I had planned. But I am glad that my directors had faith in me and are willing to experiment. I.d earlier tried diverse looks in films like Qayamat and The Legend of Bhagat Singh because my role demanded it.I had entered the industry as an action hero and then did films such Zakham, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Deewangi, which propagated this intense image. For the last few years I have been »

Bhandarkar signs Ajay, Emraan, Omi for Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji

22 May 2010 2:34 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Trust Madhur Bhandarkar to throw a surprise when one could least see it coming. With a run of critically acclaimed films that also saw commercial success coming their way, Bhandarkar was all set to jump into another hard hitting drama Heroine where Kareena Kapoor would be the leading lady. However, he recently announced the making of another film in the interim - Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji. Nothing wrong with that because it was meant to utilise the empty space he had between now and November when Heroine will go on floors. However, what has really surprised is the fact that it is no 'stop-gap' arrangement where a small film with smaller stars is being made. Instead, it is a star studded affair where none other than - hold your breath - Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya (Chatur of 3 Idiots fame) have been signed. While many filmmakers worth »

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge has turned out to be the sleeper success of the year. When released, not many were willing to spend their money on the film because a) due to its plot based story, it wasn't one of those quintessential Bollywood entertainer in the offering and b) the pairing of Ajay Devgn and Konkona Sen Sharma sounded pretty much chalk and cheese. However, now that the film has turned out to be a decent success with more than 25 crores in collections already in its kitty »

16 March 2010 2:46 AM, PDT | RealBollywood.com | See recent RealBollywood news »

March 16, 2010:Devotional songs in Bollywood films have, off late, started becoming more and more popular, as the professional renditions of traditional songs give it that extra touch to make it extremely sweet on the ears. Numbers like ‘Ik Onkar’ from Rang de Basanti, ‘O Palanhare’ from Lagaan, are commonly heard at prayer meetings, temples, poojas at home, and even as ringtones and caller tunes of every third person. The latest song to join the club, is the upbeat number ‘Jyoti Jalaile’ from Warner Bros. Pictures and Wide Frame Films’ comedy movie ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ that closely resembles the hit song ‘Beedi Jalaile’ from Kumar Mangat’s previous blockbuster ‘Omkara’. »

Subhash K Jha: Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? is essentially a one-episode sitcom

8 March 2010 8:49 AM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Being Ajay Devgan and Konkona Sen Sharma's guest, Paresh Rawal makes the first bonafide guest appearance in our cinema.

And what pest this guest is! With so many films about the guest as an intruder, this one takes the creak. And yes we do mean creak. The plot sets out portray the bin bulaye mehmaan as a pest rather than a guest and finally spends agonizing play time portraying him as a messiah in a dhoti.

Trust Paresh Rawal to get into the skin of his character. From first frame to the last, Paresh has a blast. He doesn't let go of a single moment of joy in embracing the role of the unwanted guest in Mumbai's very hectic self-absorbed nuclear family where, as Devgan says in his heated summing-up homily, even parents are not welcome after the first few days. What happened to good old-fashioned hospitality?

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge Movie Review

When actors like Paresh Rawal, Ajay Devgan and Konkana Sen Sharma come together under the director (Ashwini Dheer) of the hit-television series Office Office, it does create enough curiosity around the film to catch it first day first show. Also, we loved the poster and the pre-release trailers.

The plot of Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge is simple and something most of us can easily identify with. The movie revolves around three characters – Puneet (Ajay Devgan) who is a script writer, his wife Munmun (Konkona Sen Sharma) who is a interior designer and the athiti Chachaji (Paresh Rawal). The thoroughly professional Paresh Rawal

March 5 2010,: Paresh Rawal hardly has time to breathe, given the number of schedules that he is juggling with. Much in demand, this veteran actor never refrains from fulfilling all his commitments, even if it means going out of his way to accommodate others.

This was made evident, when he was shooting for his movie, ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ He had to report to the set at 9.00 am on a particular day, and he also had to be present at a promotional event for another one of his movies. In order to not inconvenience the unit of Atithi, Paresh Rawal attended the event at 6.30 am, and managed to reach. »

Konkana Sen Sharma is known for her offbeat roles and even in her commercial movie 'Wake up Sid' she played a simple middle class girl. The two-time National Award winner doesn't crave for glamorous roles and says she is 'quite an obedient actress'.'I've never been enamoured by glamour. Glamour has never been a very important thing for me. But, yes, if I have to play the role of a girl who is supposed to be glamorous, then definitely I will try to achieve that,' Konkona told Ians.'But usually I do films that have real characters, the ones audiences can identify with, who make sense and are not there just for glamour.
