Even more sex scenes than usual!
26 February 2010 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This was another fine episode were the focus wasn't on Frank or the older Maguires for once, instead the focus is almost entirely on the younger generation. Carl is starting to realise that he has made a major mistake by splitting up with Maxine, meanwhile she is asking his brother Ian to pretend to be her boyfriend in front of her parents. This shouldn't be a problem as Ian is gay so no threat to Carl... or is he? As Ian and Maxine hang out together more and more Micky warns Ian that she fancies him but he just laughs it off, this makes the surprise all the greater when he makes a move on her. One thing leads to another and they end up in bed together, unfortunately Micky sees what they are doing and is shocked and disgusted that Ian would have sex with a girl. When he tells Carl a confrontation is inevitable. In secondary stories Jamie learns that he can earn easy money servicing the needs of middle aged women and Kelly starts offering "after school specials" at the brothel while Lillian is away.

After darker episodes dealing with Karen's breakdown it was nice to have a more comedic episode. Although Kelly tends to appear in the secondary story lines she has become one of my favourite characters; it was great to see her standing up to Paddy in this episode. The themes of the episode mean it contains even more sex scenes than usual.
