Storyline

Chesney and Carl return to the estate, hiding out with Joe,who dissuades Carl from shooting Jimmy. Eventually Shane, increasingly angry at how the cocky Jimmy and his gang see themselves as beyond the law whilst terrorising the Gallaghers, persuades his family to take them on and teach them a lesson. Maxine persuades Jimmy's sister to tell the police the truth and the fugitives are cleared though Maxine still aborts Carl's child. Shane also finds that he is infertile, leading to his family offering to be sperm donors though Kelly declines their offer as she and Shane continue to be surrogate parents to Liam. A disappointment for Shane
1 April 2010 | by See all my reviews

Carl and Chesney may be back on the Chatsworth estate but only Joe knows this as they remain in hiding in the shop's store room. Outside most of the regular characters are campaigning to clear their names although Paddy is unwilling to put his weight behind the attempt to help... although when his son Shane gets in a confrontation with murderer Jimmy he tells Jimmy in no uncertain terms that he isn't to do anything against any Maguire if he knows what is good for him. When Jimmy learns that Carl and Chesney are somewhere on the estate it becomes clear that one way or another this issue will come to a head soon. In a secondary story line Shane learns that he is infertile, when his family learn they assume he was wanting a child rather than just be a donor so offer to help provide the "needed material". This offer leaves Shane thinking he's quite like a child although Kelly is determined that if they do it won't be conceived that way.

This was another fine episode where Nicky Evans did a good job as Shane Maguire, a character who has developed a lot over the years; he is no longer the idiot he used to be but has become a responsible husband and a man willing to put himself in danger to help his friends; he is even willing to stand up to his father, something the old Shane would never do.
