‘Sniper: Legacy’ Review

2 October 2014 6:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Stars: Tom Berenger, Chad Michael Collins, Vasil Enev, Dennis Haysbert, Danko Jordanov, Mercedes Masohn | Written by Don Michael Paul, John Fasano | Directed by Don Michael Paul

Shocking as it may seem given the amount of horror flicks I review here on Nerdly, I’m not just a horror fan. My movie-loving passion is in fact split between three genres: horror, teen comedies and action movies. As much as I can appreciate low-budget horror flicks I can also appreciate low-budget action movies – which, at least from major studios, are few and far between these days. Which is one of the reasons I was excited to check out Sniper: Legacy.

The other reason? Well, as a teenager I used to love Impact Magazine. It really was my film bible, I’d religiously pick up each and every issue from the newsagents near where I used to catch the bus to college; in »

Sanaa (Mercedes Mas&#246hn) engages with a deadly enemy in our exclusive, action-packed clip from Sony Pictures' Sniper: Legacy, available on DVD starting today, September 30.

Academy Award nominee Tom Berenger (Best Supporting Actor, Platoon, 1987), star of the original Sniper, returns as Master Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Beckett in this explosive next chapter of the hit action franchise. Also returning is Sniper: Reloaded star Chad Michael Collins (Company of Heroes) as Becket's son, Sergeant Brandon Beckett. Together for the first time on screen, these two generations of Sniper heroes team up to stop a rogue sniper targeting former U.S. military personnel in an intense thrill ride that pushes the Sniper series to a whole new level of sharp shooting fun.

Tom Berenger Talks 'Sniper: Legacy' | Exclusive

30 September 2014 7:49 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

21 years after Tom Berenger first played U.S. Marine marksman Thomas Beckett in the 1993 action-thriller Sniper, Beckett's legacy lives on in Sony Pictures' Sniper: Legacy. After the original film hit theaters in 1993, Tom Berenger returned as Beckett in two straight-to-video sequels, but in 2011, the franchise was revived with Sniper: Reloaded, which starred Chad Michael Collins as Thomas' son Brandon Beckett. This estranged father-son duo come face-to-face in Sniper: Legacy, available on DVD September 30, as they must work together to take out a rogue shooter who has been taking out high-ranking military leaders.

I recently had the chance to speak with Tom Berenger over the phone, where he offered a sneak peek into the production process, explaining how the original script's ending may have ended this franchise before it even started, the possibility of a new Major League movie, and much more. Take a look at what he had to say below. »

Tom Berenger is Still Snipin’ Fools in Sniper: Legacy

30 July 2014 9:33 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

I love me some Tom Berenger behind a rifle scope. Remember 1993′s “Sniper”? That movie launched a franchise, though if you don’t partake in the direct-to-dvd movie market, you may not have known that. I did, and I’ve seen all of the “Sniper” movies, including 2002′s pretty good “Sniper 2″ and the equally pretty good “Sniper 3″ in 2004. Seven years later, we got the not-at-all-bad but unfortunately Tom Berenger-less “Sniper: Reloaded.” Although Berenger didn’t show up for “Reloaded,” his co-star from the original “Sniper,” Billy Zane, did. That film also introduced Chad Michael Collins as the son of Berenger’s character, who is also a sniper just like dear ol dad. The latest is “Sniper: Legacy,” which teams Collins and Berenger as father-and-son, thus bringing, I guess, the franchise full-circle. Or some such. The point, is it’s Tom Berenger back behind a rifle scope shooting fools! »
