Arriving in homes post-Christmas at the end of next month is Kevin Smith's twisted monster movie 'Tusk'. It'll be getting the typically common same day triple release across Blu-ray, DVD and VOD on 30 December with the home entertainment release coming complete with a few special features. One of which includes the original podcast (or SModcast) where the concept of the movie is discussed between director Smith and co-host producing partner Scott Mosier. 'Tusk' stars Justin Long ('Drag Me To Hell'), Michael Parks ('Red State'), Haley Joel Osment ('The Sixth Sense') and Genesis Rodriguez ('Man on a Ledge'). Kevin Smith's 'Yoga Hosers' is the latest genre offering from the writer/director and the smoking hot Genesis Rodriguez -below ('Man on a Ledge', 'The Last Stand') is the latest to join the cast. The comedy horror, which will see a number of faces from his upcoming horror 'Tusk' appear once more, will team up two 15 year old girls with an old man-hunter to help defeat a party-pooping demonic force. The two young leads will be played by both Kevin and Johnny Depp's daughters Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Melody Depp respectively. There are no details currently on the role Rodriguez will take but as this is the second helping of Smith's new 'True North Trilogy' it is possible that she'll be playing the same role she does in the upcoming 'Tusk', something the two lead youngsters will also be doing. »
As the first original series from SundanceTV, Rectify was something of a gamble on the part of the network. Premiering on April 22 2013 with six episodes, however, the drama quickly established itself as a critical success, winning loyal fans and avid followers. Season two followed on June 19 2014, and is about to wrap after 10 episodes. Fans need not worry, though, as the show has now been renewed for a third season.
The premise of the series is simple, but with endless possibility for exploration. The story focuses on Daniel Holden who, as a teenager, was convicted and imprisoned for the rape and murder of his 16 year old girlfriend, Hanna. 19 years later, new DNA evidence proves his innocence and he is freed. His attempts to adjust, and the attempts of those around him to do the same, form a character study within a Southern Gothic tale.

Another genre project looking to feature at this September's Toronto International Film Festival is Kevin Smith's 'Tusk'. Along with the announcement comes this new official first image from Smith's bizarre modern-day monster movie featuring star Justin Long ('Drag Me To Hell') recovering in a wheelchair from what we assume to be some post-surgical work on his feet (or flippers!). 'Tusk' also stars Michael Parks ('Red State'), Haley Joel Osment ('The Sixth Sense') and Genesis Rodriguez ('Man on a Ledge'). Check out the new image below. »

Hauntingly grim, full of appalling ironies and awful truths. This is most definitely not the feel-good movie of the summer. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m a big Sf geek
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
I have not read the source material
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
There’s a reason why Snowpiercer — which could have, theoretically, easily been a centerpiece summer film for a major Hollywood studio — is getting handled with the timid kid gloves of an arthouse release by the industry, quietly dribbling into a few cinemas here and there instead of getting a big opening-weekend push out onto three thousand screens. It’s a reason that has a lot to do with what the film has to say about human nature, hope, despotism, and a revolutionary spirit that might want to counter that despotism. What Snowpiercer is about offers too harsh »

Justin Long ('Drag Me to Hell') has been snapped by director Kevin Smith in what might be the actors most uncomfortable scenario to date. Laying with his arms stitched to his sides with a mouth full of what either appears to be a mouth full of blood or at least missing teeth. Long's character is the unsuspecting victim of an absolute nutter played by 'Red State' star Michael Parks who decides his new roommate should be converted into a human/walrus hybrid. Long stars alongside Haley Joel Osment ('The Sixth Sense') and Genesis Rodriguez ('Man on a Ledge') also star as Long's best friend and girlfriend, of course respectively. Head below the image. »
The theatrical market in the Asian-Pacific region is now the largest single component of global box office, worth $11.1 billion in 2013, the year when it overtook both North America ($10.9 billion) and Europe-Middle East-Africa (also $10.9 billion). And unlike the European and North American markets, which have stagnated, Asia has been on a steady upward trend, driven on by growth in China, India and Malaysia as well as emerging movie markets Indonesia and Vietnam.
But if the overall trend is upward, the individual market conditions faced by distributors within the region vary enormously:
In booming South Korea, the major exhibitors are under anti-monopoly investigation, yet the number of film imports and releases is one of the highest in the world. In China, these days the world’s fastest growing major market, government policy favors local films and local companies. While import quotas grab the headlines for their effect on Hollywood studio titles, censorship »

Sam Worthington was arrested on Sunday afternoon in New York City after getting in a fight with a paparazzo, which ended up with both men a bit bloody and in handcuffs.
Sam Worthington Claims Paparazzo Assaulted His Girlfriend
Worthington, known for his lead role in Avatar, was walking in Greenwich Village with his model girlfriend Lara Bingle when the photographer, Sheng Li, allegedly kicked Bingle’s shins to elicit a reaction from her for a photograph, sparking a physical confrontation with Worthington. Worthington was issued a desk appearance ticket and then released, while Li was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. This isn't the first time Worthington has been in trouble with the law. In 2012, he was arrested for disorderly conduct.
At Li’s arraignment on Monday, Feb. 24, Li told a different story, claiming that it was Bingle who went after him and instigated the altercation.

After deftly handling supporting roles in action fare like Man on a Ledge and The Last Stand, actress Genesis Rodriguez is set to make her mark as a scream queen in the upcoming Blumhouse thriller Home.
The actress will star alongside Topher Grace in the thriller, which centers on a man (Grace) who inherits a creepy old mansion from his parents and begins to believe that it is haunted. It’s not much of a spoiler to say that he’s right, and lots of horrifying supernatural events ensue. It has not been confirmed which character Rodriguez will be playing in Home, though I imagine that she’ll be taking on the role of the love interest of Grace’s protagonist.
