Storyline

Harry suspects that Scott Weston, the injured gunman, was shot by another person and it becomes obvious that two guns were used in the massacre. Scott's mother tells Dean Mears that Scott and Jason were good friends, Scott looking out for the more fragile Jason. Meanwhile Nikki is held prisoner in the deserted mortuary by unbalanced Neil Corrigan, who appears to have planned the massacre with Jason - who chickened out and killed himself - and then framed Scott. Ultimately video evidence reveals what actually happened, as well as locating the bomb. Written by don @ minifie-1

Insanely good conclusion.

As the fatalities mount up, Harry is left treating one of the suspects Scott, who is suffering near fatal wounds, while the other, Neil, has Nikki at gunpoint in the mortuary. Leo begins examining the bodies, his conclusions are that there were two guns. Nikki challenges Neil and realises why Scott is laying at the school shot, but still alive. Leo returns to the lab and spies the gunman holding Nikki, the authorities are alerted, Nikki faces a tough battle to stay alive. All the while the devices in the University are primed and ready. The burning question being who is really responsible Neil or Scott?

Neil's descriptions of his victims as merely 'Shadows' is very chilling, and quite thought provoking.

It's an incredibly powerful episode, one of the early scenes where a distressed Nikki is changing, and Nikki is confronted by the young assailant is worthy of a horror film, the mood and lighting creates a huge tension. The pacing is quite incredible, it doesn't let up for a second. The shooting scenes are harrowing.

I enjoyed Anna Chancellor in this very much, I'd argue she's cast against type as The Chief Super, but she's a versatile talented actress and does a good job, she's stern and tough. Toby Wharton steals the show with his bleak, powerful performance as crazed Neil Corrigan, his interplay with Emilia Fox is incredible. The line he delivers 'Am I evil?' Menacing from Elliot Tittensor too.

Part 1 was intense enough, and the second part doesn't let off for a moment either, it's an exhausting watch, but it is outstanding.

10/10 Silent Witness had no right to be this good!
