Some major well-known celebs dominated this news year. Rihanna, Barack Obama, Tiger Woods, and Charlie Sheen all made the headlines in a Big way! But what about the stars you barely heard of until this year?
Here are 8 celebs who broke out in 2009 in a Big way!
Justin Bieber: If you didn’t know who Justin Bieber was in 2008, you sure know him now! This 15-year-old Candian native won the hearts of teen girls (and even some a bit older!) with the hits off his album “My World.” His mall tour stop at Long Island’s Roosevelt Field Mall in November even had to be cancelled after police were called in to contain 3,000 screaming fans. We haven’t seen a star like this since Paul McCartney!
Snooks! I’m So jealous of your Kim K makeover!
Whoa, Snooki, what happened? Your signature pouf and pickles are nowhere in sight! Instead, you swapped your shore style and opted to imitate one of Hollywood’s hottest style sirens — Kim Kardashian! From the soft retro curls to the sky-high pumps, both Snooki and Kim K ooze glam in their glittering Antik Batik get-up! Kk turned up in NYC on Sept. 13 all done up (shocking, I know!) while Snooki morphed into the queen of reality television and self promotion for a photo shoot with Life & Style magazine. Kim was so thrilled with the transformation, she blogged about it, and even said the short brunette with the high hair is her favorite member of the Jersey Shore cast! Regardless of how you may feel about your new look, style isn’t the only thing Kim has to offer — if I were »
If nothing else, I'm fairly certain last night's premiere of The Real World: Washington D.C. made MTV history: No one used the hot tub! No, actually, it's even more shocking than that: As anyone who suffered through watched the subsequent Real World: DC Aftershow knows, the cast of eight did in fact pile into the hot tub on their first night, but MTV, for some glorious reason, chose not to air it on the actual premiere. Penance for endless shots of Jersey Shore's Snooki and Snooki's thong hot-tub-grinding on every breathing man on that show's season premiere, »

Once again everyone's favorite itty bitty orange "Jersey Shore" girl Snooki got attacked by a guy at a bar ... but this time it was with his tongue, not a fist. The self-described "guidette" partied at an Upstate New York bar near her hometown Monday night and gave an over-gelled patron/fan/victim a taste of her down home hospitality.Snooki is a shore thing! It's a war of words between Domino's Pizza and Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. The foul-mouthed reality starlet recently told Steppin' Out magazine that she has some thoughts for Domino's, Dell, Unico and American Family Insurance: "F--k you! If you don't want to watch, don't watch. Just shut the hell up! I'm serious...F--k you!" Snooki's elegant outburst follows the decison of Domino's, etc. to pull their advertising from the hit MTV reality show. A rep for the pizza company said his first thought was to decline commenting to avoid giving Snooki extra publicity. But unlike Dell, he went ahead and gave us a lengthy comment »
It has been almost two weeks since the last new episode of "Jersey Shore," our newest trashtastic obsession. To help curb the shakes, we've been packing away tidbits on our favorite and most controversial cast member, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.
Sure, we have better things to do then track Snooki, but we'd rather do this. Don't hate.
Here are 10 things we think you should know about Snooki:
1) Snooki is fo' real.
Snooki has her own channel on YouTube. If you ever wondered if she was playing up to the cameras on "Jersey Shore," wonder no more. After viewing the videos Snooki posted before the show aired, we believe she toned it down.
2) Snooki's rack is also real. (Ok Magazine)
The interview's a real doozy. Enter at your own risk.
"Steppin' Out" might be the scariest magazine we've ever seen. It appears to only consist of pictures of unattractive women in "Steppin' Out" tanks and underwear and advertisements for bars, restaurants and strip clubs.
Sweetheart -- "All the negative publicity is making us more famous. The show didn't really get a lot of attention until Unico came out and started doing interviews all over the news. They made the show popular."
Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi has criticised the boycott of Jersey Shore. The MTV show has been the subject of controversy after Unico, a group representing Italian-Americans, called for its cancellation. Meanwhile, companies including Domino's have decided not to advertise during the programme. However, Polizzi has now hit out at the boycott in an interview with Steppin' Out. Milano guest stars on ABC's "Castle" when the show returns Monday, Jan. 11 as the one who got away from Fillion's Richard Castle. The situation is complicated when they are reunited over the death of a bridesmaid at her wedding to another man.
As the clip below and photos from the episode show, she's less than sure that happily ever after with someone else is really the way to go.
Recently, Milano has been whiling away the time until her new comedy for ABC, "Romantically Challenged," finds its way onto the midseason schedule by Twittering and parodying MTV's "Jersey Shore."

Hey, not for nothin' but the belle of the Jersey Shore is the extremely limber and pierced Snooki, a delicate flower who uses the word "f*ck" as an adjective, noun, verb, exclamation and adverb. Snooki has unleashed the fury of the Guidos by telling off Italian-American groups and boycotters of the trainwreck Mambo Italiano teen show "Jersey Shore." The uproar over the show has even reached the Garden State's politicians. State Senator Joseph Vitale, Chairman of the New Jersey Italian American Legislative Caucus, announced last week the caucus sent a letter to Viacom demanding MTV pull .Jersey Shore. from the air. Snooki has a real name: Nicole Polizzi, and she don't give a ratz-azzz what educated eye-talians »

The girls from the "Jersey Shore" may love their makeup, but they left it behind for a fresh-faced photo shoot.
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "J-Woww" Farley and Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola ditched their eyeliner, bronzer and lip gloss as In Touch Weekly photographers Andrew Coppa and Vis Vitae snapped away. »
Lights, camera, Snooki!
"I want a dating show -- Snookin' For Love," Snooki tells Ok! magazine. "I want to find my prince. I'd have 27 guys: guidos and juice heads. That'd be heaven. Every time I'd pick a guy, I'd give them a pickle and we'd eat the pickles at the end. »
Snooki is an "embarrassment to the human race" -- at least according to one pissed off group of Italian-Americans. It's the latest insult in a furious back-and-forth between the "Jersey Shore" star and Unico -- the Italian American organization pressuring sponsors to bail from the MTV show. Snooki had lashed out at the group during an interview with Steppin' Out magazine, saying "I just have one thing to say to Domino's, Dell, Unico and all »

We’ve gotten so used to seeing the Jersey Shore cast in nothing but bathing suits, gold chains and Ed Hardy that we were shocked at how nicely they cleaned up for a night on the town.
Impersonating everyone from Brangelina to Justin Timberlake and Jake Gyllenhaal, the crew swapped beach gear for designer duds when they hit up NYC hotspot Greenhouse on Dec. 21 for a photo shoot (and night of partying, naturally) with Life & Style weekly.
Sammi “Sweetheart” and Ronnie did an impressive job as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, while sexy Jenni “J-Woww” gave her best Megan Fox pout. Mike “The Situation” (who got his nickname because his abs are an awesome “situation”) attempted to trade in his enviable muscles for Jake Gyllenhaal’s lanky frame, while Snooki tried to emulate the bootylicious Kim Kardashian. »
The Borough of Seaside Heights, N.J., the setting of the controversial reality series, is downplaying its association with The Situation & Co. and says that the behavior portrayed on the show is "not indicative" of the majority of its visitors.
MTV exec: It bums me out people are offended by Jersey Shore
"The governing body wants it to be known that they did not solicit, promote or participate in the filming of this show," John Camera, borough administrator, said in a statement. "The production company that filmed the show did obtain a shoot permit to film in Seaside Heights, but these permits must be issued as it is a first amendment right to film in public places. Furthermore, the Borough does not condone any discriminatory remarks ...

While Snook's looks and DJ Pauly D's "blowout" may work at the "Jersey Shore," they don't quite cut it on A-list red carpets. Go figure.
So, when Life & Style invited the self-professed guidos and guidettes to a star-studded event at Greenhouse, an exclusive NYC nightclub with an upscale dress policy, they prepared themselves for a project.
"My personal style is fresh to death," says Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio. "Have you ever been to the supermarket? You know the produce section, like where the food is fresh? That's my style."
Um, so yeah, a project. The magazine decided to make over the cast in the image of some of today's most popular stars.
Is it possible these new looks will impress the Italian-American groups who are calling for the show's cancellation? »

The answer is a resounding “Yes” If “Jersey” girl J-Woww has anything to say about it!
Hamptonites like Renee Zellweger, Alec Baldwin, Christie Brinkley and Paul McCartney might be sharing their swanky summer digs with some serious “Jersey” girls – if Jenni J-Woww” Farley has anything to say about it, that is.
The Jersey Shore star says that she wants to go back to reality next summer – and she wants to take her show on the road to the Hamptons!
Additionally, J-Woww has a confession to make – she’s not really from the Dirty Jerz at all! “I’m really not a Jersey girl,” she confesses. “I’m from Long Island. I’ve always been a Hamptons girl.” And get ready for another shocker… »
Who would you root for on a reality competition show?
You love watching the ladies of “The Hills” and the wild roommates of “Jersey Shore” create drama week after week — but how would you like to see the two casts go head-to-head in physical competitions? “It would be awesome to do ‘The Hills’ versus ‘Jersey Shore, like ‘Real World/Road Rules Challenge,’” Ronnie Ortiz-Magro tells In Touch Weekly. “We would torture them!”
We’re not exactly sure which six girls J-WoWW is challenging, but if she thinks she can even take on Kristin Cavallari, Heidi Montag, Stephanie Pratt and Audrina Patridge all by herself, she’s got guts! We’ve seen what those girls can »
