Dil Dhadakne Do, after a reasonably good opening weekend of 37 crore, needed an ultra-stable week ahead for substantial collections. Though collections were not a rage during the weekdays, they didn’t fall either and kept around the mid-way mark. As a result, around 20 crore more came between Monday to Friday, as a result of which the first week collections of the Zoya Akhtar film stand around the 57 crore mark. Though these are not excellent numbers for a star studded affair like this, considering the fact that industry had been bleeding till just about 5-6 weeks back, these are still fine numbers for sure.
The film has now enjoyed the third best opening of the year after Tanu Weds Manu Returns (70 crore) and Gabbar Is Back (60 crore). However, while Tanu Weds Manu Returns is continuing to do wonders (more about that later), Gabbar Is Back too held through well and crossed the 86 crore mark. »

Now that the three superstars of Bollywood Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have shown their unification in public, many aspiring filmmakers must be mulling over the idea of bringing the powerful trio in one frame! In fact, a couple of days back rumours were rife that Sajid Nadiadwala is considering of casting them together in his film. While the filmmakers are still figuring out how to rope in the threesome, we have come up with a list of Bollywood films, whose remake/sequel can have Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan together. Yaadon Ki Baarat:Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir can well play three estranged brothers, who reunite later on, in the remake of this memorable film.
Zoya Akhtar’s latest film – narrated by a dog with Aamir Khan’s voice – takes a while to set sail, but steers its wealthy family on a voyage of self-discovery
It must be Bollywood’s silly season. Last month’s Piku structured itself around the constipated Amitabh Bachchan’s inability to pass solids; now Dil Dhadakne Do, the latest crowdpleaser from writer-director Zoya Akhtar (Luck by Chance, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) sees the misadventures of a family of one-percenters narrated by a dog with Aamir Khan’s voice. Seeing as this family is weighing up whether to sell off their private jet, we arguably need a closer point of identification; this humble pooch, balefully observing his masters’ follies, will for a while be the most sympathetic presence on screen.

A new genre of cinema was created by the duo of Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani with Dil Chahta Hai, and they followed it up with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the underlining idiom of the genre defined by its urbanity, angst and problems of loneliness. 4 years after Znmd, the duo is coming up with Dil Dhadkne Do, directed by Zoya Akhtar, which is more of a cruise film, and supposedly a film about a dysfunctional Punjabi family. Quite a lot of publicity is being created for the film but would it be able to live up to the hype when it releases tomorrow?
Some reality check- in the interregnum from Znmd and Ddd Hindi cinema has moved along and it has gone native, as also local. The locations being more rural, real and less urban, manifest from the 3 most successful films of the year so far, NH10, Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. »

We are all familiar with Hollywood remaking Asian films, but sometimes it also happens the other way around. This is the case with the Bollywood smash hit Bang Bang, which is a remake of the 2010 Tom Cruise action-fest Knight and Day. One might wonder why of all the films that can be remade, this one was chosen, since it wasn’t such a big hit and generally isn’t seen as a great film. But when you have Bollywood mega star Hrithik Roshan in the lead role, and the biggest budget ever used for a Indian film at your disposal, it might turn out to become something quite spectacular.
Well, is it? The movie has its problems, »
