Fox 2013-14 Season Ratings [updated 7/9/14]

18 hours ago | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Many of Fox's series have already been renewed for another season. What does the future hold for the rest of their TV shows? Cancelled or renewed for 2014-15? We'll have to wait and see.

New Fox shows (so far): Almost Human, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dads, MasterChef Junior, and Sleepy Hollow.

Returning shows (so far): American Dad!, Bob's Burgers, Bones, Family Guy, Glee, The Mindy Project, New Girl, Raising Hope, The Simpsons, and The X Factor.

How does Fox decide what to cancel or renew? They look at a lot of different factors but the ratings play a very large role. The higher the ratings, the better chances a show has of surviving. Here's how the network's shows are doing so far: »

Comic-Con 2014 panels set for '24,' 'Sleepy Hollow' 'Penny Dreadful' and more

7 July 2014 12:26 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Due to glorious press release timing, 20th Century Fox TV has landed a separate story for its Comic-Con 2014 schedule, even though several of the shows were previously announced in my FX/History Comic-Con 2014 story. Showtime, however, was less lucky and its lone Comic-Con 2014 panel has been bundled into this story along with the 20th Century Fox panels.  So continue along for Comic-Con panel details for "Penny Dreadful," as well as "24: Live Another Day," "The Simpsons," "Sleepy Hollow," "Family Guy," "Bob's Burgers," "Salem" and more. Thursday, July 24 *** "24" (10 a.m. in Ballroom 20) - Kiefer Sutherland takes the stage for a panel celebrating "24: Live Another Day." Kiefer is the only announced cast member, but with Jon Cassar listed as moderator, it would be silly to moderate a panel with only one person. *** "Legends" (12:30 p.m. in Room 6A) - TNT's new FBI undercover drama stars "Game of Thrones" veteran Sean Bean, »

TV Ratings: 'Reckless' struggles, 'Rising Star' dips, and 'Big Brother' leads Sunday

30 June 2014 8:45 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Fast National ratings for Sunday, June 29, 2014. The second week of ABC's "Rising Star" dipped from its premiere, though ABC still tied for the Sunday lead among young viewers thanks to a weak launch for CBS' "Reckless." Despite a solid lead-in from the time period premiere of "Big Brother," "Reckless" formed a crater in the middle of CBS' Sunday lineup, forcing "Unforgettable" to bounce back in the 10 p.m. hour, helping CBS win the night overall. On to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, ABC and CBS both averaged a 1.1 rating for Sunday night, tops in the key demographic. NBC and Fox both averaged a 0.9 key demo rating for the night. Overall, though, CBS won Sunday primetime comfortably, averaging an estimated 6.1 million viewers and a 4.0 rating/7 share for the night. ABC was well back in second with 4.49 million viewers and a 2.6/5, followed by NBC's 3.11 million viewers and a 1.9/3. Fox averaged 2.02 million viewers and a 1.2/2 for the night. »

'Bob's Burgers' Fan Creates Ultimate Home Valuation Infographic

20 June 2014 12:41 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

In an age where extreme fandom is the new normal - just take a look at The Grand Budapest Lego Hotel for proof - one "Bob's Burgers" fan has gone the extra mile by designing an infographic chart that lays out the home valuation for the titular restaurant on Fox's animated smash hit. Created by Laura Allan of movoto.com, a popular business news blog, the infographic chart examines multiple episodes of "Bob's Burgers" in order to map out the spacial size of each room and floor so that a proper value for the infamous burger joint can be estimated. Furthermore, the chart makes an educated guess as to where the location of the restaurant could be in order to best figure out the building's average price per square foot. It may sound like a little much, but since premiering in January 2011 the show has become an increasingly popular cult hit, »

HBO, FX and Netflix Duke It Out At Critics' Choice TV Awards: Who Won?

19 June 2014 7:35 PM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Some of the biggest shows on television went head to head. Here's who came out on top.

All the hottest names in TV turned out for the 2014 Critics Choice Television Awards on June 19, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Cedric the Entertainer hosted the gala event presented by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, and the night was really a battle between two cable channels.

Premiere pay-cable network HBO had a whopping 18 nominations, but in a show of strength for a smaller cable channel, FX topped that with 19. Meanwhile, the big contenders for individual shows were the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, the CBS drama The Good Wife, FX's crime dramedy Fargo, Showtime's drama series Masters Of Sex and HBO's The Normal Heart, all getting five noms each.

Also, Netflix struck a blow against the traditional television hierarchy with their original series Orange Is The New Black competing in several key categories.

Robot Chickens and Selfish Milkshakes: 'Adult Swim' 101

13 June 2014 7:40 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

There was a certain point in history, somewhere between The Simpsons and Daria, when TV animation ceased to be the sole provenance of kids drooling over their morning bowls of Lucky Charms. These days, cartoons for grown-ups are not only ubiquitous, but hilariously twisted and high-quality to boot — and that's due in large part to a phenomenon called Adult Swim. What began as a freaky little block of late-night programming has evolved into a vast, even-freakier universe of animated and live-action series with a sardonic, absurdist sense of humor that's »

DVR Gridlock 2014-15: Sunday Nights

25 May 2014 1:00 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

[As is my recent tradition, over the next six days, I'm going to be glancing, night-by-night, at how the primetime schedules have changed after the network announcements at upfronts. I'll be looking at how the various changes will impact the ratings races on each night, as well as my own DVRing habits. Readers can chime in on how their own DVRs will be impacted. And yes, this brief series assumes that anybody still watches TV on their TVs. I'm old-fashioned. It also assumes that you/I only have a dual tuner DVR (plus occasional access to a Slingbox on Et. Check out last year's DVR Gridlock installments and the DVR Gridlock segments for 2012.] Sunday Nights 7:00 p.m. ABC: "America's Funniest Home Videos" CBS: "60 Minutes" Fox: "The Ot," "Bob's Burgers" NBC: NFL Pre-Game 8:00 p.m.  ABC: "Once Upon a Time" CBS: "Madam Secretary" Fox: "The Simpsons," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" NBC: Sunday Night Football 9 p.m. ABC: "Resurrection" CBS: "The Good Wife" Fox: "Family Guy," "Mulaney" NBC: Sunday Night Football 10 p.m. ABC: "Revenge" CBS: "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"/"CSI: Cyber" NBC: Sunday Night Football What's Changed: A lot, actually! Last year, the networks barely touched Sunday and even though nobody had a disastrous time on the night (other than NBC in the spring, I suppose), several networks felt the desire to shake things up dramatically. Fox, for example, has moved two live-action comedies -- "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Mulaney" -- into a block that has been largely Animation Domination in recent years. CBS has moved "Madam Secretary" into the 8 p.m. slot and transplanted »

Vulture Festival Video: Archer and Bob’s Burgers Actors Perform Classic Movie Scenes With Their Animated Voices

20 May 2014 7:30 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

If you can assemble some of the best animated voice actors into a single room and put them in front of a live audience, why not ask them to do something crazy? That was our thought process as we planned what would become Vulture Festival’s “Animated Voices” panel, which featured Bob's Burgers and Archer actors H. Jon Benjamin, Lucky Yates, John Roberts, Larry Murphy, and Laura Silverman reading famous movie lines using their cartoon-character voices. They dove in, performing memorable scenes from Titanic, When Harry Met Sally, Pulp Fiction, and other classics, and it was a blast. You simply haven't heard the "I'll have what she's having" fake-orgasm scene until you've heard it done in the voice of Linda Belcher. »

Video: The Time Eugene Mirman Got Mistaken for Himself

It must be a little hard to be famous partly for your voice work. People will recognize you, but it's hard for them to remember how they do. It results in stories like the below from Eugene Mirman, in which a salesclerk lets him in on a secret that the kid from Bob's Burgers comes into their store. The clip is from A Night at Whiplash, a Splitsider Presents documentary about the famed New York stand-up show. The film also includes performances from Janeane Garofalo, Michael Che, Sean Patton, Jared Logan, Carmen Lynch, and Sheng Wang. It's available here for download and stream. TV Ratings: Billboard Music Awards crushes CBS' 'Good Wife,' 'Race' finales on Sunday

19 May 2014 8:45 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Fast National ratings for Sunday, May 18, 2014. CBS' season finales for "The Amazing Race: All-Stars," "The Good Wife" and "The Mentalist" proved to be no competition for ABC's Billboard Music Awards telecast on Sunday night. Each of CBS' finales got small audience bumps, but "Good Wife" and "Amazing Race" were both flat in the key demo, with only "The Mentalist" rising. Meanwhile, it was the most watched Billboard Music Awards telecast in 13 years. The CBS finales weren't the only programming unable to compete with ABC's awards telecast. While Fox's "Family Guy" was Sunday's top scripted show among young viewers, that finale dipped week-to-week as did "Cosmos." And nothing NBC programmed was able to draw even a minimal audience, with "American Dream Builders" and a "Coldplay: Ghost Stories" special coming in impressively low. On to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, ABC averaged a 3.0 rating for Sunday night, easily willing the key demographic. »

Nick Offerman & Mary Steenburgen Taking 'A Walk in the Woods'

15 May 2014 2:07 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

With Nick Nolte and Robert Redford teaming up for the adaptation of Bill Bryson's memoir A Walk in the Woods we were already pretty excited. Then the addition of Borat director Larry Charles sweetened the deal even more. However, a new report from Deadline reports He's Just Not That Into You and "The Office" director Ken Kwapis will be at the helm, so we're a little less interested. But with that news also comes the addition of Nick Offerman ("Parks & Recreation"), Kristen Schaal ("Bob's Burgers"), Emma Thompson and Mary Steenburgen in the supporting cast, though we're not sure who they're playing. For those who don't know, Redford is playing Bill Bryson, an aging travel writer an Iowa native who has been living in England for 20 years, as he aims to reconnect with America by hiking the 2,100 mile Appalachian Trail. But his connection with the homeland isn't smooth as he »

Watch Bob’s Burgers’ Perfect James Bond Credits

12 May 2014 12:00 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Bob's Burgers is a show of small pleasures, whether it is a burger pun, fart joke, exclamation, or a song sung over the closing credits. Last night's episode was a perfect example of the latter, with Linda belting a torch song set to a James Bond/Saul Bass–like title sequence. The episode, entitled "Wharf Horse (or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town - Part I)," followed Bob's mission to have a beachside burger joint. See the exciting conclusion, in next week's season finale, "World Wharf II: The Wharfening." That title is another small pleasure. »
